First of all, hello to everybody. :D

Greetings,

Today I stopped playing World of Warcraft simply because its been the same for 3 years, anyway I was thinking in another MMORPG, you know start fresh meet new people, new sweet skills, quest, monster, pvp, etc. So, I choose LOTRO because people actually talk good things about this game plus its LOTR, you know I saw the movies like 20 times.

Anyway lets get down to business:

Q.1. If I play the 14 day trial will I be in a TRIAL REALM. or I will be in a regular realm ?

Q.2. What you think about the communitie in LOTRO ?, it is big ?, you hardly see anyone around ?, friendly, etc.

Q.3. Whats the pvp like in LOTRO ? is there BG like in Wow? there are specific pvp servers ?

Q.4. Is there instance or dungeons in LOTRO ? you know like raids and strategy to kill monsters ?

Q.5. Whats the best DPS class (Meelee or caster it doesnt matter) in the game ?

Thanks for reading,

Anyway lets get down to business:

Q.1. If I play the 14 day trial will I be in a TRIAL REALM. or I will be in a regular realm ?Yes, you will go through everything that a full sub would go through. If you are new, each race has a separate storyline. Usually level 1-6

Q.2. What you think about the communitie in LOTRO ?, it is big ?, you hardly see anyone around ?, friendly, etc. Heh, Its pretty good. The only area that seems barren at times is Erud Luin(Celondim)Elf starting areas.

Also level 1-6 as a noob will be lonely only because you are in a set tutorial storyline and starting area. After level 10 you can choose to skip the tutorial if making a new character.

Q.3. Whats the pvp like in LOTRO ? is there BG like in Wow? there are specific pvp servers ?Pretty good. PVP is reserved mainly for 40+ characters. Although at level 10 you can do Monsterplay. This allows you to build up skills wit your monster and build of destiny points. very fun.

Q.4. Is there instance or dungeons in LOTRO ? you know like raids and strategy to kill monsters ?This is similar to WOW at high levels, but rarely are there big raids. Lots of instances. Some very difficult ones as well. For a noobie player your Great Barrow quests are kick butt. Along with your Book quests.

Q.5. Whats the best DPS class (Meelee or caster it doesnt matter) in the game ?Hmm, that a dificult answer. As each class has its advantage and disadvantages. But for raw dps it is Hunter, Minstrel, or Champion. I included survivability in this as Lore-masters have good Dps but run around mainly in paper armor.

Thanks for reading,

Hey,

I am in a similar boat in the sense that I just returned to the game, I had tried it at the release. Now a little tired of EvE again so giving Lotro another shot, been playing for a couple of weeks now. I am a relatively casual player.

Q.1. If I play the 14 day trial will I be in a TRIAL REALM. or I will be in a regular realm ?

Regular realm

Q.2. What you think about the communitie in LOTRO ?, it is big ?, you hardly see anyone around ?, friendly, etc.

The community is fairly large in EU at least. However, the main problem is with finding groups, there are alot of group quests and not very many low level players. (I am around level 34, was 22 when i got back) I have not been able to find a group for the Garth Agarwen instance and I have been searching for a couple of days now.

Q.3. Whats the pvp like in LOTRO ? is there BG like in Wow? there are specific pvp servers ?

Monster play is pretty enjoyable, the game is primarily pve but pvp is good fun.

Q.4. Is there instance or dungeons in LOTRO ? you know like raids and strategy to kill monsters ?

I dont know this one too well. I did alot of book quests and done great barrows. They were all pretty well designed. The group combat is more strategic then WoW with conjunctions, heavier reliance on cc etc. The main problem is finding groups for em which can take alot of time.

Q.5. Whats the best DPS class (Meelee or caster it doesnt matter) in the game ?

Hunter and Champion are the primary dps classes.

Overall the game is great fun, its instances are well designed and you really do feel like a part of Middle-Earth. It does what it sets out to do in creating an enjoyable pve environment with fun pvp thrown in. The cons, at least for me, are mostly limited to finding groups as I already mentioned twice, unfortunately I think I will not renew my subscription due to this. The game's main "fun" is in group combat for me after all.

The over-riding differences that you will see right away is the maturity of the players and the beauty of the landscapes in LotRO.  As you get further in you will see it as more solo-friendly and way less raid 0r die.

Can you believe I have not seen a single begger in LotRO and I've been playing it a lot for over a year?

hmmm, the pvp has been touched upon but I think you need to know that it isn't quite like WoW.

First off, this is primarily a PvE game. There is a "contested" area where players can pvp and the activity is called "monster play".

You can either use the character that you leveled up or at lvl 10 you can choose a lvl 50 monster. By doing a variety of things with the monster you can get points that you can use to enhance the monster. Other than this, there aren't many battlegrounds nor is pvp a focus. I believe there is a disparity between the sides but this is obviously upon a server by server basis.

Vast and friendly

Q.3. Whats the pvp like in LOTRO ? is there BG like in Wow? there are specific pvp servers ?

Monster play is like a BG in that its instanced queued pvp but you posess a different character, a 'monster'

Q.4. Is there instance or dungeons in LOTRO ? you know like raids and strategy to kill monsters ?

Yeah not as much as WoW - you follow a story-arch so there's only one instance you'll be interested in at once. There's a handful of end-game raids that should be expanded soon.

Q.5. Whats the best DPS class (Meelee or caster it doesnt matter) in the game ?

Its highly debated between Minstrel (Priest), Loremaster (Mage) and Champion (Melee dps). Its not as imbalanced as WoW.
