Most VSoH players are in love with bad ass graphics, as VSoH has them.  And because of this you have really high-end machines that can run VSoH and probably even AoC.  Will you be trying AoC since you have a computer that can actually run the game smoothly?

My computer runs Vanguard well but not AoC.

Even if I did have a computer that could run AoC well, I still wouldn't play it.  There just isn't enough content in that game to satisfy me long-term.  Even with the border lands (pvp) it would get old quick.  I couldn't even imagine how painfull rerolling would be--there's really not many options on where to level and the quests themselves are as uninspired as in any other game.

I figure that even if I were to play it, I'd be strait back to Vanguard after three months.  So why bother?

No, AoC is not a style of gameplay that sounds appealing to me.

War is not the ultima ratio, but the ultima irratio - Willy Brandt

I like the original Conan stories, but I dont care about AoC.

- Only 3 races and rather dull looking selection of classes

- Action oriented, rather shallow fight system

- Many bad reports from betatesters

- Gore instead of content

- Insane hardware requirements (would need a new computer)

Thats really not a game for roleplayers.

My guild of 10 years is going to AoC. The last game I played with them was WoW, and I left that 2 years ago. I have tried to get them to try some other games with me but never could, they were just never interested in trying anything else. I have a lot of fun playing with them so I will be getting AoC.

I will allso keep playing VSoH. I got the Vanguard LE for $10 so its easy for me to justify a few more months play time in it.

Most people who are putting down AOC. has not even been on beta yet. and the people who has and said the zones are small is lying to you.

I'm playing AOC on a 4year old PC and its on low setting but it works fine just like how WoW,vanguard .did when they 1st came out

Yeah, I am afraid I am gonna jump to AoC...

I resubbed to VG a while ago simply due to the lack of anything else that appeals, but it's just continously frustrated me personally due to what it could be rather then what it is...

With Alan Wake, Fable 2, Spore, and even WAR, launching in the next few months I don't sadly see me giving this game another chance even in the unlikely event that AoC fails  :(

Just to add on....: i'm happy how there is only human race and not a high elfs with gnomes running around. Making Your Toon is like COH/COV. you can spend alot time just making your toon. Roleplaying is going to be core of this game (for players whos looking for a game to Roleplay) you can craft, build a guild city, harcore PvP just how DAOC is set up .

In my opinion, people who like and enjoy Vanguard openess and freedom will not like AoC much. Many times I tried to hide away in a zone to hunt and just mess around, but every single spot/monster/dungeon on the map/zone was linked to a quest.. I felt I had no choice but to follow the quest lines to find content and level up...

Here is why I wont be playing AoC:

  • I like to explore
  • I like to craft
  • Sometimes I like just to hide away and grind/hunt monsters
  • I like to gain mounts in low levels
  • I like seamless, big open worlds

Though I just recently came back to VG, I may give AoC another shot in a month or 2. Main thing that got me from beta was the lack of content when you get to the 20+ areas. Sure there was some stuff there, but if you compare it to the starting area its just lacking. Aside from that, I still can't get used to the combat system. It just feels very unnatural to me, and after playing a game with the classic MMO battle system like VG, I like AoCs combat system even less. But who knows, I might just stick with VG until WAR comes out, and skip over AoC all together.

I've been in AoC beta for the last few months and just recently came back to VG since leaving to test AoC.  AoC is a good game, a bit enclosed for my taste compared to the vastness of VG.  Also the gameplay is a bit shallow, it's spam your combo's, pop a pot and rinse and repeat.  Most likely it gets better has you level, due to NDA restrictions I can only talk about stuff upto level 13.   It's very casual friendly, no need to group unless you want to visit some of the games dungeons.  I found it to be very potion reliant which makes it possible to take on loads of multiple mobs without the assistance of a healer.  AoC has a beautiful game world which puts VG in the shade. Back to the question, will I switch to AoC and the answer is no on release but I will give it a go 6 months down the road to allow the devs the time to work out the kinks.
