Ever sense Ive started playing MMORPGs about a year back, theirs been a lot of name calling and hating for what MMO you play. Some people say to those who play World of Warcraft, that their noobs because their wasting money and they will have no life. Other popular MMOs such as RuneScape and MapleStory (MapleStory is what I play) players get called noobs because people say "Just get WoW, stop playing those cheap games with horrible graphics and get a game thats actually good!" Or, in other cases "Stop playing those cheap Asian MMOs and just get WoW!" Now, im just using these games as an example. It happens with others too. Fankly, I dont get this war between MMO players about what game you should play. Ive always thought, as long as your having fun, who cares what game you play? In my case, I play MapleStory even though its a Asian MMO because personnaly, I like the style of game. Grindy is actually how I prefer it (Dont ask me why, because I dont know myself.) Other people play WoW, because its one hell of a game. People using the excuse "youll have no life" is just a typical sterotype among MMO players. So why do we slam each other for the game we play? Any opinions?

It's more along the lines of "carebears" or something like that...mainly started by the "PVPers" back awhile ago. 

But you are correct, name calling has been happening a lot more these days. People should just playy the game they like and let others play the game others like.

I really don't get the WoW hate myself. I love WoW. WoW has made it possible for other, smaller MMO to survive. Every time a huge MMO has a succes it drives the MMO industry.

If you like the game or not doens't really matter. WoW made MMO mainstream, that means your game has a bigger chance of surviving and getting funds.

It doesnt really matter though does it. People have always attacked each other over anything and everything. Why do you think nearly every game is based on warfare and killing things? Its because we enjoy attacking each other. Human beings like to feel attached to things so they can feel comfortable. Its like that in real life and it no different on the internet either. In the online gaming community people have a tendency to flock together under the banner of their favourite game.....a bit like a virtual tribe I suppose.

Your only gonna risk being a target of an insult if you post your views on an online forum such as this one. If you do that then you're fair game as everyone is totally free to say whatever they like. No real damage is done so what does it matter? Its just a harmless way for lots of angry people to vent their frustrations on others. I certainly dont think its anything to worry about.

Some guys act like Blizzard stole their lunch money or something. Jeesh.

Video games are a personal preference and playing a certain game does not make you better or worse than other people. Do you hate people who like pizza instead of chinese food? Or people who liked "The Godfather" over "Goodfellas"? Unless you're completely dillusional, you probably don't. Hating people who enjoy a particular video game is the same situation.

With that being said, a lot of people seem to hate really popular things. When a band is underground, they are cool but if the same band makes it and goes mainstream, they are automatically sell outs and their music sucks. To that I have to say the following: STFU and let people enjoy whatever they like.
