I also understand they are going for an art direction from the original games. All I would like to see is graphics comparable to say Guild Wars, where there is large pvp areas and I still get no to little lag and yet don't look cartoonish.And I think it is possible to have the graphics and art mesh very well together.

How ever they do it is how they do it, I'm just hoping it is something I can get immersed in. As far as I have seen so far, that is not likely,at least for me. Cause I think it can be a great game.

I'm looking for something to replace EQ2 which I have been in for 3+years now, so that is starting to get old and I want something new and different. But I need the graphics to pull me into it, besides the game play.

Here is hoping I'm wrong. /fingers crossed.

I would suggest waiting till the game is released and some player made video's come out. If your looking for the better graphics I assume you have the system to handle it. Wait untill the players with great systems start posting video's with all the bells and whistles. Then you will be able to tell if the graphics are for you or not.

I understand what your saying and its all personal taste. To me EQ2 didnt look a whole lot better than WoW. A tad more realistic and maybe its cause I only played the free trial. Anyway, apriciate you not bashing the game for its grpahics style but rather just saying its not for you if its no better than the video's we have seen so far.

Agreed.  I can't even begin to tell you how many times Jeff has said they're NOT trying to beat WoW, they're not even aiming to be #1 in sub numbers.  They are aiming for a quality MMORPG, and to be #2 in sub numbers, because even Mythic knows it's going to be near impossible to be 10 million subs (supposedly).

And it's stuff like that I like to hear.  It's not always about beating the competition, it's about satisfying the customers.

RvR is not about just sieging, it's a lot more than that.  WoW's sieging sounds somewhat entertaining, but it won't come even close to WAR's RvR.  RvR is about everyone acting as a team.  Everyone working together for one goal:  To take over the enemies CC.  Everything you do contributes to that end goal is some way.  It's more than just sieging, it's about working together as a team.

Yes, and I think that the crowd of "it-looks-just-like-WoW" people do not understand how RvR works.

Mythic's take on PvP (Realm vs. Realm warfare) creates a game that is fundamentally different than the WoW experience.

Dark Age of Camelot was their first foray into Realm vs. Realm warfare and, as such, was a noble effort.  It entertained many people, but had some notable flaws in class balance and realm balance, too much crowd control and avatars who died far too easily.

Also, notably, it lacked the "happy ending" payoff that players wanted:  capital city siege.

WAR seems to be addressing those issues and wrapping the new package in the lore of Warhammer.  And that ain't bad.

20 classes -- 10 per realm (Order/Destruction).  You should be able to find something you like.

Two massive capital cities to siege at release -- with four more to come when the development is done.

~~~
I think the idea is not to kill WoW but to offer a "WoW-alternative."
Also, I am pretty sure that the type of players who were attracted to DAoC will be attracted to WAR and overall that will be a good thing.
Have to say that at the moment much of the hyped content of WAR relies on the RvR system. However, if the other content isn't on par with the quality people are accustomed to no amount of RvR glory will amend the situation as AoC has shown. Will be interesting to also see how they have solved the drop in frames per second rate that most games are so concerned with massive PvP scenes: if you put 600 players in the same screen casting spells I could wager that either a) game will be most unplayable for most or b) the effects have to be drasticly reduced in intensity which then again might drive away people who look for eye-candy.
All-in-all, more from the gameplay features has to be released and showed in public and I would atleast as a customer like to see some "actual" footage instead of glorified promo-pictures where, of course, everything looks just about perfect. After all, it is not the perfect scenario players will play this game and even then it has to play smoothly and, most importantly, be fun. Hope but for the best to WAR but would love to get a chance to try the game before giving it a pole position on the grand prix to beat WoW.
One would think people looking for "eye candy" would have a decent system able to run the currenlty available "eye candy".  Do people complain they can't play Crysis on a computer built 5 years ago? (I really don't know the answer to this... maybe they do)
