GW EQ1/2 SWG MxO PS DDO AO WoW EVE CoH/V (P)EU SoR FFXI VG TR PotBS AoC

> GW2 & Fallout MMO

I happily shelled out £35 today. After a few hours of installation and patching - I was very excited to see what AoC had to offer.

And 7 hours and 3 characters later: My cancellation reason to Funcom:

Extremely repetitive. No freedom of movement nor exploration. No way to skip cut-scenes. Cringe when I have to create chars - story extremely linear. TERRIBLE voice acting and accents. Non fluid char movements and control response.

Makes me sad. :(

Basically its a bad version of Guild Wars with an enhanced LOTR-ish feel with very awkward arcade key-mashing. Looks and feels good initially - wears of very quickly.

On the plus side: Good gfx. Good music.

Sigh. Flame me all you want, but  when you have played lot of MMOs as I have, you know can tell a true gem from the rest.

Regards.

Not going to flame you mate, but since you didn't even take enough time to find out that you can readily skip all cut-scenes, I suppose you didn't give the game any chance in the first place. Which makes me wonder why you bought it.

All your other points are based on personal preference. So, sad, but as I keep saying, AoC is not for everyone. Hope you find a game more to your liking...and where you actually bother to try things out.

1-40 is enjoyable I think. the game still has that fresh sense.

But after 40 the game takes a nosedive. You allow people to level quickly and your 40+ leveling content sucks. Field of the dead is a disaster but you ahve to go there or grind.

I enjoyed tortage greatly and I like leveling and playing around with classes, but if improvements aren't made to performance before my 30 days, I'm cancelling. Game isn't good enough for me to want to play at 10-15 fps, or about 5 in field of the dead.

For a new MMO, you'd expect the game to be more advanced and generally better than past games.

After four days of playing, leveling to 33, I have already canceled my account. MMO's which are seven years old are more fun and have better systems than this game has.

I guess people hype games just due to how good their graphics are.

After you leave Tortage the game is just different zones and they aren't linear at all. I promise.

Depends what you mean by linear? You can traverse hills to get from point A to point B. It's not like you can only take roads.

You have 3 zones to choose from after leaving tortage, so there's some freedom in the order you do things. So I disagree that it's linear. But there isn't much in the zones that isn't used for something or some quest. I agree there isn't a whole lot to just explore. Your quests pretty much take you everywhere so maybe that's why it feels so linear.

I think the linear aspect is a bit overrated. My only complaint is I wish they made it a little easier to climb the steeper  hills. Also, you should be able to fall a longer distance I think.
