Who is John Galt?

Apparently you unlock the extra jobs at lvl 30 by doing a quest per job or something, right?

Ok, if that's right, and you can only have one character, how can you have a primary job as one of the new jobs? For example, if you wanted to primarily be a paladin and warrior for secondary, how would you go about that from start to beginning?

MMO Subs:
WoW, CoH, DDO, Eve, FFXI, LotRO, Sb, SWG, Vg

Following:
Stargate Worlds and Earthrise

Really looking forward to more than any other online event:
Star Wars: The Old Republic

Yes once you reach 30 you can do quests to unlock new  "Advanced" jobs. You do however have to start from the beginning with each and every job. That's why so many people have different jobs lvled on one character you simply go into your mog house and click on the change jobs tab and choose which job you want to be at that time. At lvl 18 you can do a quest that unlocks the sub job ability so when you go into your mog house you can choose that as well. Your subjob will only be half the lvl of you main job but that doesn't mean it is automatically you have to lvl it first to at least half your lvl for that to happen. Basically when it's half your lvl you get the abilities that job would have at that lvl or lower with the exception of 2hr abilities. You will only have the 2hr for your main job not your sub.

That's why most people don't make too many characters because you can lvl all the jobs with your character and race really doesn't play as big of a contribution in ffxi as it does in other games. There is differences but every race can do evey job with some pros or cons, but with the right type of gear and a good head race really doesnt matter.
