    • Slyths: What if you had a game that made you think about which skills to use in addition to an autoattack system? Then I'd laugh when you try to go AFK and end up dead.

    • I really didn't want to hear them say "it's like Mortal Kombat!" as if that were a Good thing. bleh. But then i like turn based combat so what do i know.

    • madonvibes what are u talkin' about??? how can u find it boring.... do u prefer targetin a mob press 2,3 buttons and go AFK instead?
  • madonvibes(posted Sat May 24 2008)
    • I found the combat to be quite boring and unimpressive. My fave part of this game is the character creation lol

    • Why does he always stop and say "ahhh" "ahh" "ahhh" rofl.. Anyways I think those blood splashs on your screen look pretty annoying, they should be abit more decent, cover your more screen and be more transparent, but just my opinion :P

    • "TeranHawkins(posted Mon May 19 2008) I've been playing AOC all weekend with my early access and am having a hell of a fun time. Combat is much more engaging than WoW. The game LOOKS amazing, especially on a DX10/Vista machine. Looks much better than in these videos. A lot of people in the in game chat seem to be really digging it too! " Unfortunate for us DX10 isn't implemented yet and the option in game does nothing, and the DX10 launch was pushed back to.. I think aug? The game runs and looks a lot better then it did in beta ill agree, but lets not blow smoke here. As for the video, I liked it.. shows a decent example of the combat. If nothing else I the zone they are running around in.

    • lol, your all trolls, the combat is fun. Of course his hp wasn't going down it was a demonstration.. go play wow you guys no one is interested MKAY?
  • baal/mrheat(posted Mon May 19 2008)
    • hahaha, my god... how lame can a fighting system get... lisp lisp "active combat" lisp lisp HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA sheildindicators... this acctuly seems even worse then the worthless WoW pvp system
  • Draenor(posted Mon May 19 2008)
    • The combat looks fairly sloppy...I guess it's because I was only watching and not playing, but I hate the look of five or six mobs just bashing on a character, and not having the character show any real damage...he just sorta brushes off all of their damage as he kills them one by one, I understand that it's the nature of the beast, but when I watch it without playing it, it feels lame.
  • daeandor(posted Mon May 19 2008)
    • I understand how combat works in AoC. I am saying that everything is all good until players, on a large scale, start discovering the weaknesses in the combat system and adapt to it. At that point it becomes the same as any other mmorpg. If you've played mmorpgs for quite some time, you know that it is inevitable. Players, imo, are smarter (through numbers) than devs, and can always find a way to tip the scales in their favor. It's the nature of the beast. Anyhow, I'm not trying to say AoC has *bad* combat, just that in about 30 days it will be anything but "innovative."
  • shamall(posted Mon May 19 2008)
    • daeandor the combat doesn't work like that. If your enemy has his shields on the side of your most powerful attack it will do hardly any damage so you cant just spam the same combo all day.
  • master-johan(posted Mon May 19 2008)
    • looks kinda messy when you look at it this way, but hopefully it will be easier too play it by yourself
  • daeandor(posted Mon May 19 2008)
    • I didn't say it was as bad as auto-attack, or even *bad* for that matter, just that it would end up the same as VG, EQ2, DDO, and others that had dev proclaimed "innovative" combat upon release.
  • daeandor(posted Mon May 19 2008)
    • uh, no, I haven't played AoC, but all mmorpg's are the same when it comes to "innovative" combat: players figure it out eventually in their attempt to min / max and they all come down to relatively simple button mashing. It is the nature of mmorpg combat. Like I said before, it is all cool at first, but once you figure out your best "combo", that is all you end up working for in every fight.
  • Zeramact11(posted Mon May 19 2008)
    • So great to hear that the game is impressive and that the players that could ACTUALLY LOG IN can access this area. Funcom are great developers, but not great "runners" of an mmo.
  • darkness421(posted Mon May 19 2008)
    • Looks impresive, can't wait till it's out.
  • amcolex(posted Mon May 19 2008)
    • actually i dont think so, players are able to shift there defence where they choose, at first it may seem simple, but once you get to the point where you need to really be efficient, you can't just spam the same combo oover and over again
  • Housam(posted Mon May 19 2008)
    • daeandor has not played obviously
  • daeandor(posted Mon May 19 2008)
    • and it's all cool until people actually start playing and min/max and learn the best 2-3 buttons to push for their class.
