I'm not a vet and left just after the jedi prof update I used to have fun when i could do things like nk solo and hk in a group, but when i left i needed a group to do everything apart from grinding collections and a lot of those still required me to be in a group

pvp was killed off for me because the 5 piece stats and buffs attached to the heroics unbalanced it too much, I was a jedi so was used to dieing alot but before the heroic buffs/stats i had a chance and could fight back

I was also grinding a pet(spent 15mil on it) and as far as i can tell the jedi prof update ended this too as the points lost would have come from the high lvl powers i couldn't see that i could afford to lose

so when i left swg was all forced grouping, forced grinding and because of the 5 piece and jedi prof update my individualism had been removed

So has anything changed yet?

In your situation not much has changed.  Load the trial and check it out for yourself though.

The game is still dead.  It still has the worst combat in MMO history, it still has a busted economy...

Don't bother.

If you were a Jedi, your solo capabilities have been improved with the Jedi updates.  Commando's don't do too badly either since there update.

The game is not dead,and I am a vet that returned 2 months ago not expecting to have fun again,but ended up having alot of fun. The game is not what it was pre-cu/CU,but it is fun again .The populations are different on each server some are still light while others like Bria,Bloodfin,Chilastra,and Starsider are experiencing healthy populations again.As a vet recently returned to the game I suggest tat you play the trial and see for yourself if you like it or not,but give yourself time to adjust to the differences 1st. I got agravated early on,but stuck with it until I reached level 14 ,by then I was having alot of fun playing. I started a new toon to relearn the game. Alot of hate for this game is still found here at mmorpg,so you need to make up your own opinion:P

also it seems that community is starting to dumb itself down....which is something i thought i would never say.  i can't even stand to read to forums anymore since they are now just full of childish flames and pictures of the latest pre teen internet catch phrases like "epic" and "fail" amid a plethora of senseless and humorless and down right stupid motivation maker pictures.  i never ever thought that the community would be one of the things keeping me away from swg.

Well they dumbed the game down, got ride of all the intelligent customers, and I guess it's only logical that the new players would have intelligence right now par with the game.

Yeah, I've noticed on the occasional forays on the Ahazi forum that the community is just not there the way it once was, and on my last trial that what community there was consisted of vets playing it out because it's still "Star Wars", not because the game is engaging them.

I guess this post was more dumb hope than any real expectations, but thankyou for the responses

i'm just going to have to accept that(like so many before me) the game i was playing and enjoying is now gone

And i am also saddened to hear about the damage done to the community, the swg community was the best i'd ever come across in all the mmo's I've tried

And i can also see how the direction the game is heading is going to appeal to the how shall i put it 'less grown up players'.  From my experience of them they seemed to do everything in groups making heroics very accessible to them and they were also the 1's ganking u 4 on 1 with cries of noob and gay when u inevitably died and the stats etc attached to the heroics i'm guessing will only improved their ability to do this. And since from what i've read after posting here that swg seem to be heading away from the sandbox take and hold pvp to instanced pvp this is likely to get worse

again thankyou for the responses and i may go back briefly when echo base goes live if only to say goodbye to the friends i made there(any that are left that is)

Don't waste any money to resubscribe for the Hoth instance.  I can almost guarantee that they will offer another vet trial when it goes live, since they have spent most of their efforst for the entire year developing it.
