A good summary for 15 minutes.  A lot of stuff missing (The Combat Revamp > Balance > Upgrade), but then again that infamous quote of, "Kill, Loot, Repeat" was in there.

The quote from Nancy McIntyr makes me angry all over again.  I remember the first time she said it and how insulted it was for all of us that worked so hard and long to build our cities/guilds and characters to the way WE wanted them.

What an insult.

Great video...  That's about as non biased as you can get that story too.  They made the point that no other MMo in history has ever undergone such a change.    

This is why we have to keep up what we do.     ...So it NEVER happens again.

 Very good summary, I think. He avoided saying "dead game" throughout the whole thing, too... even tried to lighten the mood at the end. The reference to WoW made me chuckle, though.

Basically the game isn't unique anymore. Only reason I played was because of all the differences from the traditional style other games had.

So much for differences; now there are so many similarities the only way you can tell SWG apart from others is by the awkward clunky gameplay and the Star Wars franchise.

The funny part with SOE trying to make SWG more appealing by being like their competition, is that their game can't do anything better than the competition.

If they wanted the game to be like WoW, WoW still does it better... and with the numbers, despite SWG having the fabled "Star Wars" name

Just an FYI to anyone planning to watch that movie, SKIP THE FIRST NINE MINUTES! Its just a long broing monologue on every expansion released, what features were offered, what races were playable, ect. Such information might be useful to someone who never played SWG and wanted to get a feel for what the game was all about, but for the most part its useless to those of us who did actually play it. Only a few comments about the jedi system were mildly intersting, in my opinion.

Everything AFTER the nine minute mark is pretty awesome and gives a very good (if very simple) explanation for the problems with the NGE and why all the customers turned aginst the game.

That notorious quote of course is one of the best parts. It makes it clear they were more interested in milking the Star Wars aspect of the game for money than they were in delivering a meaningful experience. I mean, WTF, don't they know that the entire point of an MMORPG is to give the player a chance to create something of their own? If I just wanted to be Luke Skywalker I would go play some single player Star Wars game where you actually get to be him.

P.S. Did anyone else notice the guy who started this thread was also the first person to reply, just so he could agree with himself?

 You mean the "To Much Reading"? if so then I geusse you never visited the forums back then cause many forum trolls felt the game was too complicated aswell to much reading thought the to much reading was slightly misunderstood by SOE as it was mostlyy meant that people needed to look the internet on how to play. And I am talking about the forums trolls who where the majority on forums complaining but the minority of players of hte game itself at the time, as most who enjoyed the game either stopped visiting the official forums as most guilds I knew had their own website/forums, and after about a year most we saw on forums where those trolls who didn't want to see the game improve, as many constructive topics got bashed by again the forum trolls which cause many good topics getting locked, and like I said tons of times SOE DID LISTEN TO IT'S COMMUNITY, UNFORTUNALY THEY DID NOT LISTEN TO THE ACTUAL PLAYERS but listend to those who had far to much time to spend on forums about a game they already disliked.

What an insult.

 Yeah that community was indeed very insulting, and seeing the way people complain still today about numerous games has proven to me that many have not learned a thing. Shame SOE listened to the winers instead of their players. But then again this cicle continues to go on and on with other games even those outside o f SOE seem to continue to listen to the wrong crowed else we would not see this genre being dumped down. One day some of you might understand and learn this.
