Didn't they try the West Coast thing a few years back and had to shut it down? About the time of the Throne of Destiny expansion for AC and AC2, if I recall correctly.

I played the open Beta with no issue on high settings with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (2.0 Ghz) with 2 gigs of plain old DDR and a Geforce 6800 GS. It is very forgiving on the graphics side. My 8 Mb net connection was able to keep up easily with lots of people running around (and hopping like it was an FPS) with no issues either.
The one time I had a big slowdown was when I first went into RvR and got spammed by about 10 new graphic spell effects that had not been loaded before. After that everything went smoothly.

And this is why RvR or any other PvP centric game turns into nothing more than a rotating Flavor of The Month game. Be ready for wave after wave of nerfs followed by copious bitching and threats to quit.
Everyone wants to be the War God class and if you can't solo 6 other players then your class sucks and needs to be buffed or someone else is overpowered. It is inconceivable that anyone use superior tactics and a properly balanced war party against your 6 orc tanks.
PvE whiners are bad enough. "Waaaah the mage always ends up first!" The sociopath PvP wannabe gods, though, just take the cake when it comes time to cry "Nerf!"
I still like the game, though. I just don't have any illusions that I will be King Turd of Shit Mountain, so I won't be suprised or disappointed when Warrior Priests or Shadow Warriors are nerfed into oblivion by whining Destruction players.

I think the graphics are quite nice, despite playing on the Performance setting. Perhaps I am not bothered by the cartoony models and colors as much because I am fully aware that the art direction is based upon the Games Workshop miniatures and supporting Warhammer game props; a fact that seems to elude the ultra-photorealism critics.

I really hope their association with Codemasters only goes as far as publishing and not to hosting and customer support. Speaking from experience in previous MMO's, they are "teh suck!".

How many players does an MMO need to be considered a success in today's market?
