Space was the reason I got involved with SWG many years ago....well before they ever even had space. When space added with JTL, I was excited to say the least. Made a character a Shipwright and set to the task of forming my own Squadron within our guild. But, the content was weak. The support for space was weak. The interest was weak. SWG is now more about being a PvP player on the ground....many have little clue about space because it just has no meaning in the scope of the game world. In my mind, SWG is about as dead a game as it could be.
I am afraid the STO is going to go the route of Star Wars Galaxies. Namely, it will have the name of Star Trek and look like Star Trek but won't be any at all like Star Trek. Going to just have to wait and see.

Hilmar may be CEO of CCP but he speaks more like one of those politicians that he is referring to. So lets get a few facts straight first.
1) CCP took away 30 and 90 day time codes out of eve when the Icelandic economy started to fall apart.
2) They just removed one of their founding features in the game, "ghost training" as they call it. This was a feature that they were very proud of during their first major release, Castor, and always told people that their player training and skilling system was very different from other people in the industry.
So when their version of the stock market drops 75%, England seizes a lot of Iceland's assets and their whole countries economy hits a brick wall, they take that away from us as well. Saying that it will balance the game AND, AND! get this, I love this part, it is now being called a bug! Yes a BUG! for the last 5 years it was a FEATURE but now it is a bug!
Don't get me wrong, I love Eve-Online, damn good game, but CCP is totally screwing it up this year. A HUGE thumbs down to Hilmar for lying about it to.
Sorry but the "ghost training" thing just didn't ever seem fair to me. People expecting to use the service that the rest of us are still paying monthly for....what is wrong with that picture. You can't get something for nothing and those of us that are paying don't want to subsidize you while you "take a break". In other words, pull your weight and I will pull mine.
Hey thanks! Been over on the PotBS site many times looking and never saw a free-trail offer. Off to try it now.

We've all been seeing the products of the recession. We've seen it when we buy a hamburger, we've seen it when we fill up our tanks with our life savings. We've also seen places closing. Today, I went on over to the coffee house where I am a regular at. Or, I guess I have to say was a regular at. It was cleared out, and a sign on the door saying they had to close. This recession affects each and every one of us, and it definitely affected those employees who now are out of jobs. I'm hearing all this stuff about Obama's tax plan being bad because it would tax the small businesses and people I know or myself would lose their jobs. But this is absolute bullshit. Our recession is the perfect example of the republicans "trickle down" economic plan. People are losing their jobs now. Obama's tax plan will make the wealth more evenly distributed. Once again, the democrats must clean up the mess.
First off, there is no recession. A recession is defined as 2 consecutive quarters of negative growth. So far, the only quarter that was negative was the one that ended December of 2007.
Second, businesses start and businesses go out of business all the time. Has nothing to do with whoever is in the White House.
Regarding the "mess", I say blame it squarely where the blame lies...with the U.S. Congress. Just take a look at how many are getting huge contributions from Fanie Mae and Freddie Mac. And by the way, two of those institutions recent former CEO's are on Obama's advisory team as primary advisors.
