It's a shame what has happened to SWG :( For me however it all started going to shit when Jedi got put in and then really went downhill with JTLS and the CU. The NGE however was the move that really showed me that LA and SOE just don't care and even admitted to it's current fanbase that they are screwing us over to attract a newer playerbase which they never got and just lost most of their current one.
So now SWG is this big dated mess of 3 broken systems that they are still trying to fix and create content for and just...... everything feels very poor and reused all the time. It's been 3 years since the NGE and still all the major issues arn't fixed and seeing as how some things still arn't fixed from launch and Smedley talkign about a possible close to Galaxies they wont ever be.
there's a lot of people, myself included, that still have a good time playing SWG. I'm being honest when i say that i cant think of ONE gamebreaking or irritating bug that hasnt been fixed since lanch. Maybe I have a higher tolerance for shoddy code but I can't think of anything that i encounter daily that pisses me off
Bugs that bothered me were getting shot through walls and being unable to return fire. Have they fixed that yet? I'll bet not. It's a lag issue and they are addressing it.
I also didn't like that the group waypoint arrows pointed in the wrong directions and showed the wrong distances. Have they fixed that yet? Not fixed yet, you still have to clos the window and open it again for it to work if you shuttle.
I also didn't like falling through the map and getting stuck under it on Kashyyk. Have they fixed that yet? Not fixed yet.
I also didn't like the instancing bug that didn't allow your whole group to get into one of the instances on Mustafar. Have they fixed that yet? Yes that was fixed.
I also didn't like when I would activate a special, and see the timer start, but the special wouldn't actually work. Does that still happen? That was fixed this lastest publish.
I also didn't like the regular spawning of high end npc's (ones I wanted to take down and loot) in walls, trees and other objects. Does this still happen? Not really at all.
I also didn't like my house being suddenly swallowed up by a hill or imperial base that simply wasn't there before. A few times I was unable to enter my house, and on one occasion I was unable to exit. Does that still happen? Nope.
You know, the current MMO I play has none of these problems. On one occasion I pushed an npc into an area of the map that I couldn't target, but I had a GM release the npc within 10 minutes of sending a petition. If you encounter a spawn in an object in SWG, what's the usual response time for having this addressed? Within 10 to 15 min now.
If any of these bugs are still in the game, I would say that people would find them irritating. From the small game population, relative to when I did play, I would argue that those who are willing to pay a premium price for an MMO in this state are in the minority.
Speaking of population, I still remember when Smed promised to fast track server mergers. Has he followed through on that one yet? Free character transfer in the first quarter of 2009 for all your toons on a low pop server.
Has he corrected these bugs and merged servers, as he said he would, or has he spent his development dollars on developing an RMT card game that includes a money generating intermittent reinforcement strategy? SOW bought the company to bring the trading card game to all of their games, not just SWG.
I use the default target system with no problems at all, I have over 20,000 pvp kills across my toons and have no problems with PvE targeting as well.
What exactly is wrong with the bounty hunting system?
As a launch day person of SWG that continues to play today those screenshots you have are exactly what the game looks like, there was almost no difference between the concept art and what was put into the game.
Agree or not that is my opinion.
