(and a juicy target)
If you judge a game by the squeaky wheels then every single game in the universe will always suck.
The very fact that said people are refered to as "carebears" speaks much.
Are you really offended if someone calls out someone to be a "carebear" when they supposedly whine about not being the pwn machinel fresh from start? Doesn't matter what game it is.
I could find a more offensive and more fitting word myself though.

I'm back to playing now that I've eliminated the problem if can flippers. Actually switched to doing missions today for a break from mining and that went pretty well except for the bugged mission which is going to cause me a faction hit, but oh well.
I still stand by what I say because it happened to me. I'm only here to state that Eve Online is not new player friendly and please stop telling people with less than 1 million skill points that they can kill people with 10+ million skill points cause thats a flat out lie, lol.
With less then !m SP?
Ofcourse they can kill people.
But is anyone saying it is easy, that they should expect to just log in/start the game and kill everything they see? Nooone is saying that
To be honest why would they be able to do that, and also if they can't do that have nothing to do with if the game is newb friendly or not.

RMT is RMT no matter how you dress it up.
This is true, but I've only seen two approaches to RMT that actually work.
The first is the WoW way - make in-game money worthless by making it so you can't buy anything that's highly desirable with in-game currency, and making said currency easy enough to farm that nobody has a use for an RMT dealer.
In a game like Eve, that approach would never work. So instead it's been worked into the in-game economy in a manner that cuts the RMT seller out of the loop, doesn't break the economy, and ensures CCP still gets a piece of the pie. I think it's a good system for what it's designed for, as I can't think of any feasible method to actually stamp out an RMT black market in an effective manner without going the WoW route.
Maybe it is true what you say. But I would very much want to hear further why ingame money is worthless in WoW?
A quick thougth from me would be all the various farming runs/raid for gear that are sold for ingame gold. I mean it can't be unknown for you that guilds sell loot by offering places in raids in instances they have on farm. Not to mention all other goldsinks. Easy to get gold by honest means, means nothing really.
I was under the impression that there is alot of goldseller, still, in WoW.
(Just a side note.)

I missed out on the whole UO thing (I was too busy playing proper PnP RPG's!
), if you don't have increasing level based quests (or level based 'content') in an MMORPG, how do you increase the difficulty for players that have got high skill levels and special gear?
Serious question. Do new characters play alongside experienced characters without dying horribly?
Doesn't it just make inexperienced (new) characters stay in 'safe' areas until they have enough skill to cope with the bad guys who all have to be skilled and equipped to deal with the 'experienced' characters?
My experience in the PnP RPG area suggests that although a 'sandbox' non-levelling system looks good on paper, it doesn't work as well as it looks.
Having played Runequest, HERO, GURPS, as well as RoleMaster, D&D, and too many others to mention. It becomes obvious that although a new (non-level based) character might look equal to an experienced character in a non level based system, the new character will get turned to pulp if they try to go up agains the same challenges that an 'experienced' character does.
At the end of the day, what's the difference between a level 25 warrior and a 'sandbox person' with 65% sword skill?
If you are a level 1 warrior or a 'sandbox person' with only 15% sword skill, you get pulped if you go up against the more powerful person.
It's why D&D, RoleMaster, Rifts, Earthdawn, Etc... were just as popular (more so I'm sure) as RuneQuest, GURPS, HERO, Harn, Tribe 8, etc...
It allows for ease of play and working out what you can go up against and who you are matched to play with.
I have fond memories of playing in RuneQuest games with people who were playing Runelords (highly developed [earned and spent lots of experience on skills they wanted]), but in combat it was either a case of dying horribly if the GM put us up agianst something that would challenge the RuneLords or watching as the Runelords effortlessly killed off anything that would be a safe challenge for us lower level character.
Don't get me wrong. Runequest (2nd Ed.) is my favourite RPG of ALL time, but I'm curious how these 'sandbox' MMORPG's (with no helpful human GM to see you through 'sticky situations') deal with characters with varying levels of 'experience'?
Anyone with UO experience and Vanguard experience to compare, care to shed some light?
I also would like an answer to what you are asking. Both directly and indirectly.
What is the difference beetwen leveling up from 10 to 11 or collect enough valuables/skill points get the next better equipment/skill ?
