Latest Blog Entry - Several Interesting Correlations.
From my blog The Boundless Caverns [Raistlin25]

In General.

1. The hours spent grinding away is inversely related to how happy the player is.

2. The hours spent farming for gold is roughly ten to eighty times the amount of time required to actually fulfill all of a player's wishes.

3. The hours spent pking another player is directly correlated to the raise of a player's E-ego.

4. The hours spent arguing on the forums is directly related to the person's "fame" factor in most MMORPGs.

5. The more a person posts on the internet, the more likely that he'll be flamed for whatever opinion he's had.

6. Whenever someone on the internet gets angry, here are some of their commonly used phrases in order to run away from the argument. These are generally used when one is losing. (Which, if you look at it from a Colleguate Lincoln-Douglass Debater's point of view, it makes no sense whatsoever.)

6A: "Putting words in my mouth" - Oftentimes players will fail to tell the other side what, if any words were they referring to.

6B: "I'm going to play x game now" - Alright...Good. Go play.

6C: "I'm tired of arguing with a kid like you" - Surprisingly enough, some kids are significantly more intelligent and mature than most adults.

6D-1: "Whatever, it's your opinion." - Quite correct, my dear Watson. It's their opinion. You stressing on this fact only tells everyone that you don't like it

6D-2: "I've listened to your perspective" - See 6D-1. No, you haven't listened. If you listed, you'd be trying to work something out.

6E: "This game sucks. The forums sucks. The players suck. The staff sucks. You suck." -Perhaps the most interesting comment to date. The logic here is irrelavant because though everything sucks, the topic starter is still spending a lot more time than necessary hanging around said game.

7. The amount of cash spent in F2P games is directly correlated to how easily someone can "win."

8. The success of a game can be measured by the number of active players divided by the number of active bots.

8A. The success of a game, alternatively, can also be measured by how many angry forum users are complaining on said game's forum.

9. College students, whose time should be spent studying and doing their job will on average, grind 50% more than other players. Even more so than high school students.

10. The player's addiction to any game can be judged by how many "I quit" threads there are in a game's forum.

    • Maybe some genuine discussion?
    •  My question is: Why is Warhammer and Warcraft so....anatagonistic? Seriously. Warcraft/StarCraft came out of the Warhammer Universe.

They're both games. They both have niche populations. Doesn't mean one's better than the other - both are raking in solid levels of cash for their respective companies. They appeal to different players.
The  question: Why can't we all get along? This whole WAR VS. WoW debate is more pointless than the whole Marvel VS. DC thing going on with comic book fans.

    • Can Shadow Warrior dual wield?
    • To one of the posters: You might have seen a Swordmaster with a Shield that looks like a sword.

Shadow Warriors can't dual wield to my knowledge, but Assault spec isn't as bad as everyone say it is. Your spike damage is fairly obscene with VoN + Level 2 Morale.

Witch Elves are dual wielding daggers for anyone who wants to know. Same with DoK. The downside to Disciple dual wielding is that your healing isn't as good but you can use that blood sacrifice attack to build Soul Essence.

    • Warning to all considering or playing this game
    • Couple of things. First, the International Version is going to be based in the U.S. and Europe. MY version is MY version. International is International. Don't get that mixed up.

Second. The grind isn't nearly as bad as everyone says it is. The grind is considered to be "bad" because you can't hit level 100 in two weeks. I have a maxed out Elf Priest on the Chinese official servers, and it took me about a year and a half. I'm a student, so I can't play too much, but with the higher end instances and the proper gears the game grinds like Ragnarok Online.

On the Chinese servers, there are several daily quests as well as a weekly worth of 2x EXP for five hours. If the International/U.S. versions impliment these, then I don't think it's bad at all. In addition, there are weekly based events for rares and etcs, so I honestly don't see the point of saying it's a grindy game. You want to see grindy? Try out Lineage 2, Ragnarok Online, Rappelz, FlyFF, FFXI, RF Online, and SoTN.

      Perfect World
    • Rohan (New game open beta, very good)
    • To be really fair, it's worth a shot. I have a level 40 Half Elf (The weakest of the classes) and even then I don't have much trouble. The bots are getting better, the staff's working on things to make it better.

The item mall is more or less optional, as it's not wholly needed to do anything. They're only good for people who want to go at it fast.

Their live support staff is excellent, and that's from twenty two different MMOs that I have played.

EDIT: Just on the grind factor: at level 39-40, took me approximately four hours. No item mall use, breaks in between for Olympics/Gymnastics. Just some mobs and three quests (two which are repeatable). Decide for yourself.
