    • Will this game have anything to offer gamers who don't enjoy PvP?

But as you go from tier to tier (10-20 20-30 30-40) they will try to ease you into pvping a bit. It is avoidable, but i highly reccomend giving it a shot.

This comment may be misleading.  From what I've seen and read, the difference between a Core server and an Open server is that Open servers are open PvP (RvR) anywhere in the field of play.  In Core servers, RvR is restricted to RvR zones.

So while it may be possible to get to lvl 40 without engaging in RvR at all, by the time you hit tier 4 (possibly lvl 30 or so... speculation), the PvE zones will be few and far between and the RvR zones will be much greater in number and size.

Sure, Mythic is promoting the "you don't have to PvP/RvR in WAR if you don't want to", but I think they are just trying to win PvE players to their cause and hoping they will change their minds once they play WAR.  This game seems to be geared specifically for brawling.

That being said, PvP hasn't always been my preference in other games.  But I'm sure it will be my preference in this game.  The large scale (24 on 24) battles will be impossible to resist.

Jack Thompson, lol.  I think that dude is a closet gamer.  He's ashamed to admit he loves Gears of War.  Probably has some kind of fetish going on.  You can tell this in his "mental masturbation" arguement.  Haha.

    • How long will killing the king take?
    • I can't give any absolute answers on times, obviously because it will all depend (and I haven't played the game yet, lol).  But I have heard the devs say it will take "months" to get to the point where a city is suseptable to attack.   This was also before they eliminated four of the cities.  I imagine it will take longer than originally expected to get to that point due to the new game mechanic.

The way it used to be if Chaos conquered Order, they could sack Altdorf after taking Tier 4.  Now, because of the city switch, 2 out of the 3 Tier 4 pairings have to be completed by the same realm before Altdorf or The Inevitable City can be sacked.  So instead of just the Empire falling (in the above example), the High Elves or the Dwarves would have to fall before Empire recovered to unlock Altdorf.

Then Altdorf would have to be sieged through PvP (RvR).  Then the public quests unlock and Destruction has to take both the Temple of Sigmar and the Bright Wizard College before the king fight unlocks.

Once the king fight unlocks, it takes a 24 man raid to even stand a chance, and the devs said he still pwns in those cases.

So, I guess it takes a lot of time, experience and skill to kill the king.  As it should.

Final note:  Since it might take months to unlock the city siege, the city siege time limit will probably a day or more, and the king fight itself will probably be unlocked for a significant amount of time to give everybody a chance to get a piece of the action.

New players to the fantasy genre are often drawn to the pictures of glory and beauty presented by humans, elves and dwarves. Older veterans however tend to be drawn to the team of ragtags that just seem like an outright mess, but when the time comes to fight, they work as a unit.

To sum it up: Those who havn't experienced being the superior force tend to try to bring it forth through looks, while those who know they are the superior force care more for the fun factor when they are not fighting.
Mind you this does obviously not count for everyone, but it does explain the general incline towards the green buggers and the other jolly memebers of the chaotic regime

This is a bit off topic, but I really dig this component of WAR, no matter what realm you play.  The devs have stressed the pride of the realm, meaning that though I may hate "so-and-so's" guts, and he hates mine, when it comes to defending the realm, we will proudly cover each others' backs.  That is so awesome.  To know that we can set aside personal grievances for something greater than ourselves is one of the noblest aspects of humanity.  And having it integrated into a video game is like having your cake and eating it too.

Throw in a lot of general bugs that need fixing and you can see why so many subscribers cancelled their subscription and went back to their original games. The rest of us are waiting for WAR. I don't think Mythic will make the same mistake as Funcom. AoC was rushed.

Great answer.  I can only add that Mythic is probably much better financed than Funcom was.  Mythic has pushed back the release date for WAR twice now to unsure a smoother launch, because the had the resourses to do so.  Funcom was probably jumping the gun to get money coming in and counting on completing their product before anyone noticed it wasn't finished.  Then they noticed how big their issues were, and it was too late because everyone figured out the facade.
