You get a fifth of your levels there, but it will amount to far, far less than 1/5 of the time you spend getting to 50. And the xp curve is pretty fast. What sets vanguard apart is that there's a ton to do and unless you turn off xp there's no way to see it all just leveling one (or two) characters to 50. After having played 2 characters to 50 and another up to the early 40s, there's still places that I've yet to explore.

Lol the only money put into VG by SoE is FROM the SUBS, take the subs away and the devs get moved away from the game and it dies.
this
Truthfully WoW has many flaws, but these are hardly the ones that I would consider significant. With that said, I never expect Blizzard to put out an MMO that meets my expectations because it doesn't truly innovate.

There are solo quests all the way to lvl 50 (lots of them)
This. And multiple group dungeons from 10-50 for each level range. Although you may have trouble grouping before 20.

I'm pretty sure you don't get the free month if you used a trial key.
Not sure how VG is but every other MMO(not sure about EVE, tbh) gives you a free month with purchase of a box. That doesn't include games that give you the software, and you just pay monthly fees.
Yes. Vanguard gives you a free month with the purchase of the box, unless you used a trial key. Then you don't get a free month. I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure this is how it works.
Blame SOE because that's how it is with all their games.
