Indeed
yeah but as long wow has arena and war is not all mature pvpiers will stay in w o w =]
Deep with many possiblities and choises of feats skills and talents character development system so each player could build the avatar he dreams off . Thats one of the best addiction factors in an role playing game .
Hundrends of thousands random created items diablo like gear/loot system. I always hated the idea : gee in which boss this item drops? This thingie can make a normal routine grinding procedue far more intresting, and ofc raids also since u know that each boss will drop 2-3 purples items but no idea what items will be.
Random created dungeons/raids instances with a huge boss pool variety in eahc instance so each time u play an instance it wont look the same making instances less boring.
Weapons range : poleaarm 3 metres reach 2 handed swords 2 m , short swords 0.5 m e.t.c. giving also a tactical sense to the use of weapons apart the casual hmm what dps this weapon has.
Huge world to explore ,nice design outdoors areas with many things to discover giving back to the players the missing fewling of good old days adventuring we so much are missing nowdays in the current mmo's in market ,delete instanced areas ( good example to avoid is AOC).
Well organised and builded open pvp mass battles ( good example to avoid is WAR) . Arena system also seems a great pvp target being an ultimate chalenge of skils to hone your talent in instanced pvp type ( good example to copy/paste is wow' arena system )
An extremely carefully created combat system that will reward skill and tactical minds and not the just the gear u carry and just spaming some skills ( good example to avoid is the combat systems that most games use so far wow, war e.t.c. best example to copy/paste is oblivion 's combat system )
The ability to claim castles build keeps claim the title of baron ,count and similar titles that grand u the possesion of castles e.t.c. that will give u an income through taxes and ofc which u should defend from other other players that would want to claim your castle . Also claiming titles that varrying to many aspects of game diplomacy e.t.c.
All the mixes of the above factors i mention if u put em together u r making a game for everyone 's taste ithink and most of those i mention are missing from the current mmo's .
Wish some day an mmo will fulffill if not all at leats most of those and logging in to your character would be a really fun and excitment move and not just an other day of grinding /farming gear, honor, ranking ,gold
i posted in past that if an mmorpg will try to focus on rvr open mass battles they will have to do it with extreme care otherwise the war ship is going to sink ..Op seems to prove my point

I can honestly say after playing mmorpgs for 10 or so years that the player base has changed a lot. It seems that patience has gone out the window recently with the wow generation of players. Please keep in mind that WAR is only a few weeks old and the game will evolve. One thing I enjoy about the game is that the developers do care about what its players want. Unfortunately with the advent of WoW the industry has perhaps set a higher standard on what a game should be but comparing a game that has been out for 4-5 years to a game that has been out for 4-5 weeks is just unfair. WAR is a lot of fun and tbh I was one of the people that expected very little from it. Yes the PVE and crafting systems are lacking in some respects but if you look at the product alone and not compare them to WoW they are, for a game that just came out, very acceptable. I look forward to the future of the game and its platform and design along with its p2p income will hopefully maintain and push forward new ideas and the game will blossum into something even more fun. I think it is safe to say that people need to be patient.
I agree 100% mate. Problem is for any mmo that will launch now it must be as perfect as possible and with the least possible bugs with the scene set as it is by wow.
Problem is though that the players want to play a game now and not after 14 months when aoc or war will be good with all the fixes/bugs removed , adding content e.t.c. thats why i suspect tbh darkfall didnt launched yet, they r trying to avoid aoc war 's failure

Since you've been following it for four years, I can assume that by "dated" you are not talking about the overall concept or gameplay style they are going for. So, I'll assume you mean graphics...
Some useful comparisons
Darkfall:

War:

I'll let you decided which is dated, if either. All of those shots are .jpg, so all recieved some loss in compression and all will look better in game. However, since all are .jpg, all should have recieved the same degree of loss.
i dont know about date or outdaet mate but if the DF's gameplay core is 70% as it seems to be it will kill all other mmo's ,simple as that gameplay= everything .
Graficks are for imprssions only and for kids that value graficks more than gameplay
What characteristics of an MMORPG do you look at most?
