If you grew up staring through translucent plastic at a tangle of N64 circuit boards, 8BitDo has a very specific nostalgia hit lined up for you. To mark the Nintendo 64’s 30th anniversary, the company is rolling out N64‑inspired Clear Blue editions of its Retro 87 mechanical keyboard and Ultimate 2 wireless controller, both aimed squarely at PC and mobile players who still miss “funtastic” hardware.
The Retro 87 Keyboard, in its new Clear Blue finish, leans hard into N64 callouts without turning into a toy. The casing is a transparent wave blue that immediately recalls Nintendo’s old Ice Blue console variant. The keycaps pay tribute to the controller layout, with yellow arrow keys mimicking the C buttons, blue and green keys standing in for A and B, and a red Ctrl key echoing the Start button. Under the nostalgia, you are still getting a proper compact mechanical board: 8BitDo’s Cloud Gray linear switches co‑developed with Huano, an aluminium plate, hot‑swappable PCB, N‑key rollover, and full remapping and macro support via 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2.
Connectivity covers Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz wireless with an included dongle, and wired USB, and the keyboard also ships with a pair of matching wired “Super Buttons” you can program as giant macros or arcade‑style inputs. The Clear Blue Ultimate 2 wireless controller is the other half of the set, and it is very much an N64‑coded take on 8BitDo’s current flagship pad. The top shell is translucent blue, the ABXY buttons are colored to match the classic N64 scheme, and the D‑pad and back buttons continue the two‑tone look so the controller lines up visually with the keyboard. Functionally, this is the standard Ultimate 2 wireless model, which means TMR joysticks with RGB rings, Hall Effect triggers, a six‑axis motion sensor, two back buttons plus extra bumpers, and a 1,000 Hz polling rate over both wired and 2.4 GHz connections.
As usual for 8BitDo, the controller works with Windows, Android, SteamOS and Apple devices, and it ships with its own charging dock in the box. It is priced at $59.99 and is available now. One caveat for Switch owners: this particular Ultimate 2 variant is aimed at PC and mobile, so the ABXY layout is based on Xbox rather than Nintendo, and it is not intended as a direct Switch 1 or Switch 2 pad.
