A Massive PlayStation VR2 price drop will bring the cost of the second Sony VR headset to $399.99 / £399.99 / €449.99.
The PSVR2 is coming down giving console fans a way to easy get in on the VR action without dropping thousands. Last night, a Sony blog confirmed that gamers who opted to pick up Sony’s distinctively shaped machine can now grab the associated VR headset for with a nearly 25% discount, and the price cut is permanent. So, no need to rush out and grab it right this second.
The change covers both he standard headset bundle and the PlayStation VR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle. Both options will cost the same and include PS VR2 headset, PS VR2 Sense controller, and stereo headphones. The Horizon Zero Dawn option adds in a voucher for the Horizon Call of the Mountain VR adventure.
The PlayStation VR2 launched back in February 2023 and impressed when we tried it during demos. It builds on the original Sony VR option, brings great visuals and a premium set of controllers to the box. Plenty of big name launches are available, including the stellar Alien: Rogue Incursion, Skydance’s Behemoth, and Metro Awakening VR. Since 2023, the headset even added PC support, so no need to go buy a Quest, HTC, or PICO if you want to try out even more games using PCVR.
The blog does confirm that the new $399.99 RRP may hit store shelves at different times, depending on your location. We had a quick look at UKL retailers this morning and you’ll still find plenty of high street retailers at the launch price of $549.99 / £529.99 / €599.99. Picking a VR headset can be a difficult decision, and the game library and PC compatibility make this price point pretty compelling against other options.
