If you’re in London keep an eye out as acclaimed MMORPG FFXIV brings the Dawntrail expansion to the UK for one day only.
Fans of FFXIV Online that happen to be in London have a unique chance to celebrate as the upcoming expansion Dawntrail arrives in person for one day only. A massive Aetheryte Crystal just appeared by King’s Cross station between right now and 11pm UK time.

Instantly recognizable and littered across towns and city states across the in-game world, Aetheryte Crystals normally serve as a beacon. They allow players to travel the land, more easily taking on challenges and events where the alternative is a long walk or a sudden death. The installation in London will, unfortunately, not help you get past the evening rush hour. Instead, this contraption is an awesome opportunity to get a unique selfie with a life-size bit of your favorite MMO.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a similar waypoint make its way into the real. Fanfest , the regular FFXIV in person celebration, has reportedly played host to a similar setup before. For those that missed the last crystal and can’t make it to London, there isn’t long to wait for the release of the Dawntrail Expansion. Dawntrail, the fifth and latest expansion pack for the critically acclaimed MMO FFXIV Online, is set to launch on Tuesday 2nd July 2024, with Early Access opening on Friday 28th June. The new expansion will bring an abundance of fresh content, including an increased level cap, multiple new jobs, sprawling new areas, new allied tribes, new dungeons, and new core battle content such as FATEs, Hunts, Treasure Hunts, and side quests, and much more.
Just 4 more days for the most ardent of fans. Pre-orders are still available, including the special edition box. This comes with an art box, a cloth map, an exquisite Viper Figure, a notepad, and a pen case. You can find out everything that’s coming to FFXIV on the official website and catch the Real Life Aetheryte Crystal for the rest of the afternoon. There’s even decent weather in the English capital for a change.
