Adventure Awaits All Ages Trident’s Tale

3DClouds announced Trident’s Tale and it’s a swashbuckling adventure for all ages, and it’s coming in May 2025.

Forget the open seas of the Internet and don’t worry about Baby Shark. Take on your own swashbuckling story when Trident’s Tale comes to PC, Nintendo Switch, as well as Xbox and PlayStation platforms.

3D Clouds just announced new sea faring RPG Trident’s Tale is launches in May 2025, and it’s not your usual adventure. The independent studio that pieced together games like Transformers: Galactic Trials and Paw Patrol World, is about to ‘yo ho ho’ your world into the ocean when it launches during May 2025. Trident’s Tale stands out among the torrent of online treasure hunts, aiming its cannons squarely at the solo traveller. Plunge into a new IP set in a colorful fantasy land. Meet eccentric characters, cure cunning riddles, and battle shadowy dungeons as you take the helm and sail through dynamic naval battles and keep the crew together for a voyage that’s sure to delight.

Trident’s Tale is just the latest in a line of titles to come out of 3DClouds and seems obviously inspired by previous pirate ARPG King of Seas. More Monkey Island than Black Flag, it focuses on exploring a vibrant sea full of mysterious islands where players can embark on a range of adventures, wandering the sands talking to the locals, collecting, crafting, selling or looting everything you find in dangerous dungeons.

Shoreside

On land Trident’s tale plays out more like a traditional RPG. Despite its jaunty attitude, exploring shorelines or cracking environmental puzzles looks likely to be a more mature affair than the Italian developer’s doggo based offerings. The pirate’s life finds players battling undead, if unthreatening, skeletons, magical monsters, and completing quests. Boss fights even impede your progression, whether you choose to tackle then during the day or at night.

Pick off shamans, robots, golems, or those blasted skeletons, each with their own style of attack, using a range of combat capabilities. As any good pirate would do, take a sword to the problem, or use some magic to spell success/ With an active movement system, I’m pretty sure that boss battles will each require a particular consideration to overcome the promise of unique fights.

Out on Sea

Along the way, players looking to smuggle a bit more action into their life at sea will find a crew of misfits ready to help them. Ready to head out and follow a tale of an old trident, this gang will follow players along their journey and help you cast off onto the high seas. Head out across a vast swath of islands that you can visit and explore. Try not to navigate into dreaded sea monsters, although it seems like this will lean far closer into arcade inspired sea shanty’s than the naval combat simulations of AAA vapourware. Thankfully, if this tale does run into enemies on the high seas, the combat controls shouldn’t prove too difficult. Targeting and attacks follow much the same system as the landside options, meaning you’ll be able to point and shoot with ease, or run away. Running is always an option!

Like any good RPG, Trident’s Tale even allows players to upgrade their ship and crew. More than simply crafting brand new weapons for the captain, you’ll be able to do things like fit new skins to your flagship. Want to look like a spooky green ghost ship. DONE! It’s not all cosmetics but adds just a little more depth for an audience that might not be ready to take on all comers in the open Internet when trying out Sea of Thieves. That, largely, seems to be the port Trident’s Tale is aiming for. Ditching the requirement to go online and deal with torrid depths of online interaction, it’s an adventure that’s a little more mature and a lot more inventive than kids co-branded spin offs. Aimed squarely at anybody who’s ready to make their own decisions in a light-hearted journey where the hero isn’t going to go headfirst into a roguelike Lovecraftian horror, this colorful cruise is due out soon.
