The developers from World’s Edge, Tantalus Media, Forgotten Empires and Xbox Game Studios has announced a release date for the next Age of Mythology: Retold DLC. The expansion comes under the title Obsidian Mirror, bringing new civilization, gods and creatures to the world. This time players can rule over Aztec and follow one of the tree major Gods. The DLC comes to PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 on 21 April 2026.
Obsidian Mirror expands Age of Mythology: Retold with Aztec mythology, introducing mechanics centered on sacrifice, illusion, and the flow of life and power. The DLC promises to bring new strategic depth and a rarely explored mythological setting to the RTS genre.

New Major Gods (Three)
- Quetzalcoatl: Wise priest-king focused on culture, learning, and accelerating civilization with the power of wind.
- Tezcatlipoca: Embraces night, chaos, and sorcery. Summons underworld minions and bends reality through illusion.
- Huitzilopochtli: Demands sacrifice and devotion. Grants devastating power to those who give everything in his name.
New Minor Gods
- Itzpapalotl: obsidian butterfly of death and magic.
- Tlaloc: rain and destruction.
- Xolotl: corruption that twists enemies into monstrous forms.
Core Mechanics
Tonalli System: Life essence released in battle. Fallen warriors generate divine Favor to empower gods and drive civilization forward. Villagers can offer their life force when greater power is required.
Campaign
In 12 missions, the rivalry between Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca unravels. The city of Aztlan destroyed. Huitzilopochtli leads his people south in search of a new empire. Meanwhile, Tezcatlipoca escapes through his Obsidian Mirror to recruit allies across continents. Alliances fracture, gods clash, and the fate of the Aztec people is decided by blood, belief, and power.
