Developer RibCage Games shared the latest gameplay trailer to offer a new look at Alpha Nomos, an upcoming rhythm-action roguelite. There is also an expanded demo playable through June 22, so don’t miss out on a chance to try it out for yourself!
In Alpha Nomos, you play as Cello and her friends as they explore their ruined world, fight murderous puppets, and uncover the mysteries of the powerful force known as music. What caused the destruction of this world? What is music? What is Alpha Nomos? All these answers await Cello in this magical world.
In order to get through your enemies, you will have to time your attacks to match the beat. Combining rhythm and action gameplay, get rewarded for playing on the beat and crafting your combos to the music, but that means mixing it up too! Don’t just play on the major beats, use quick eighth notes and rests between your strikes to deliver punishing combos against your foes.
The video above focuses on this refined combat gameplay, expanded power-up evolutions and the live-recorded musical weapons that give every fight in Alpha Nomos its own sound. Based on player feedback, the new demo introduces a tighter combat loop, new enemy encounters and the studio’s evolving “music-as-mechanic” design where every beat played on rhythm reshapes the soundtrack in real time.
