Amazon Luna is heading into September with one of its stronger monthly lineups in a while. Prime members are getting two substantial open-world adventures, several new GameNight titles, 11 PC games to claim throughout the month, and a new Remote Play feature designed to make multiplayer gaming considerably easier.
The biggest additions to Luna Standard are Star Wars: Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, both of which are available now. Star Wars: Outlaws puts players in the role of Kay Vess as she works her way through the criminal underworld in an open-world adventure set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Meanwhile, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora sends players to Pandora’s Western Frontier, where a Na’vi character attempts to reconnect with their heritage after being raised by the RDA.
Those two games follow Amazon Luna’s August’s additions of Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, giving Luna Standard subscribers a rather substantial collection of Ubisoft open-world games to work through. Apparently, Amazon has decided that having somewhere to go isn’t enough. We also need an entire galaxy and an alien moon.
September also introduces four new GameNight titles. King of Tokyo lets up to six players take control of kaiju and proceed to destroy things in the traditional kaiju fashion. It’s Quiz Time: Guinness World Records brings updated trivia to the television, with phones serving as controllers. Bowling Mayhem and Cranium Planet are coming later this month, supporting the sort of multiplayer sessions that tend to start peacefully and end with somebody insisting the controller cheated.
The bigger Luna development, however, is Remote Play. Prime and Luna Premium members can invite up to seven friends or family members to join supported multiplayer games remotely. Invited players don’t need a Prime membership, only an Amazon account and a supported device. There are already more than 60 Luna games supporting shared sessions, so this could make GameNight considerably easier to organize when everyone’s living room is several states apart.
Prime members also have 11 PC games to claim during September, including War Hospital, Just Die Already, Drop Duchy, DOOM + DOOM II, Botany Manor, DOOM Eternal, Rims Racing, Wall World 2, Hue, The Da Vinci Cryptex, and High on Life.
With Star Wars: Outlaws, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, a new remote multiplayer option, and a healthy selection of PC games, September is shaping up to be a pretty difficult month for Prime members to complain that there’s nothing to play.
