Blizzard Entertainment announced a partnership agreement with NEXON to publish Overwatch on PC in Korea, with operations aimed to begin later this year. The two companies will be closely working together to deliver services tailored for Korean players, hyper-localized content and expansion of the IGR ecosystem.
Under this partnership, NEXON will publish Overwatch on PC in Korea within this year, handling live service and business operations tailored to the Korean market, while Blizzard will provide the Overwatch IP and continue to lead overall game development. Both NEXON and Blizzard will begin recruiting additional local talent to bring their shared vision to life.
More details on the publishing transition will be shared at a later point.
Johanna Faries, President of Blizzard Entertainment, added, “Korean players have long been a vital part of our global community, and their passion has helped shaped Overwatch in meaningful ways. We look forward to partnering with NEXON, whose deep understanding of the Korean market and strong live-operations expertise is widely recognized, to continue to deliver exciting and dynamic experiences for players.”
“We are very pleased to partner with Blizzard Entertainment on the globally beloved Overwatch IP,” said Daehyun Kang and Jungwook Kim, Co-CEOs of NEXON Korea. “By combining Blizzard’s outstanding development expertise with NEXON’s strengths in live service operations, we aim to bring Korean players the best possible Overwatch experience.”
