BlizzCon 2026 Announcements Overview

In case you didn’t have a chance to tune in to BlizzCon 2026 over the last weekend, we’ve got your back. Here’s a short overview of the announcements made during the convention.

WarCraft III: Reforged – Forsaken Kingdom Campaign Announced

During BlizzCon 2026 came the most unexpected announcement, the first new campaign coming to WarCraft III in over 20 years.

Forsaken Kingdom returns to the heart of Warcraft III storytelling with two campaign experiences: the Last Days of Lordaeron prologue campaign and the main campaign. The prologue delivers a more traditional, linear Warcraft III experience across four missions, while the main campaign opens into a soft open-world RPG structure inspired by the beloved Rexxar campaign.

World of Warcraft: Midnight & The Last Titan – Future Plans Revealed

The developers have announced Eclipse, the next major content update coming to WoW: Midnight. Prepare to face Xal’atath directly as she races towards her ultimate goal: The Worldsoul hidden within the depths of the planet.

The events of Eclipse will unfold in the worldcore, setting the stage for a revelation and conflict that will carry the Worldsoul Saga toward its final chapter in The Last Titan.

In The Last Titan, players will return to Northrend. In Ulduar, you will see the return of the Titans to Azeroth and uncover a vast conspiracy, one that will challenge everything you think you know about the Titans, their intentions, and their plans regarding Azeroth.

World of Warcraft: Forever – New Way to Experience Azeroth

Blizzard revealed World of Warcraft: Forever, a brand-new way to experience Azeroth anew.

WoW: Forever begins where the original Vanilla WoW begins: in the early “Year 1” period of Azeroth, before Kazzak reopened the Dark Portal and before later journeys to places like Northrend reshaped the timeline. Rather than rushing forward, the team is building from the original level 1–60 world, expanding events, characters, and locations that exist—or could have existed—within that foundational era.

World of Warcraft: The Lich King Remix Announced

Following the Mists of Pandaria and Legion Remix, Blizzard is bringing players back to Northrend ahead of the schedule in The Lich King Remix.

Overwatch: Doctrine Hero Reveal

The new Overwatch hero is a proper villain: a vampire-inspired Support and long-time ally of Doomfist. His true debut in Season 5 pushes the Reign of Talon story toward its exciting conclusion. His abilities are all about manipulating lifeforce with his scepter, infusions and bat-like drones.

A new Escort map, Watchpoint: Grímsvötn, takes the fight to a remote Icelandic prison, where Doomfist breaks Doctrine free and sets the final chapter in motion. The Reign of Talon reaches its conclusion in Season 5, closing out Overwatch’s first year-long story arc.

Heroes of the Storm: Xal’atath Arrives in the Nexus

Azeroth’s most wanted villain (at least, currently) makes her arrival in the Nexus.

Xal’atath is joining the roster as the newest Heroes of the Storm character, arriving September 28. Her arrival is made all the more special by those of you who have continued to carry the torch for HotS over the years… and there may be even more to come for Heroes in the future!

Hearthstone: Monk Class Addition & the Old Gods Return

Hearthstone is growing! The game is expanding its Hero roster, welcoming the Monk. The new class will be arriving next year. But that is not all! The Old Gods return much sooner than that.

Launching on October 20, Reign of the Black Empire takes Hearthstone back to the earliest age of Azeroth, long before the Old Gods were imprisoned and long before the world as we know it existed. This was the age of the Black Empire, when C’Thun, N’Zoth, Yogg-Saron, and Y’Shaarj ruled a corrupted world and waged war against the Titan-forged armies sent to stop them.

Diablo III: Season 40 Kicks Off in October

Developer Blizzard Entertainment also shared some news regarding Diablo III. The newest Season 40: Light’s Calling will be kicking off on October 2 at 5 p.m. PDT/CET/KST.

The Nephalem will be able to harness the power of the Shades of the Nephalem theme, which first debuted with Season 22. Valiant Nephalem who recover Angelic Crucibles, a new consumable item, may use them to Sanctify any equippable Legendary item, infusing it with one of three new class-specific powers at random.

Diablo III - Season 40 Light's Calling Kicks Off on October 2

Diablo IV: Season of Hell’s Legacy & the Amazon

To celebrate Diablo’s 30th anniversary, Diablo IV’s Season of Hell’s Legacy brings back the Prime Evils, including the Lord of Terror himself. But you won’t have to face them alone! The heroic soul of Deckard Cain returns to aid the heroes with anniversary rewards and gear inspired by every era of Diablo.

The Season of Hell’s Legacy comes with an all-new way to enjoy slaying demons. Diablo IV is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 today as well! Not only that, but in first half of 2027, the javelin-wielding Amazon will charge into the fray, bringing one of the game’s most fearsome archetypes back to Sanctuary.

Diablo V Announced

New Era of Terror comes to Sanctuary in 2029 with the release of Diablo V.

The heroes of the past have failed, Sanctuary has fallen, and Diablo is one step closer to invading the High Heavens. Diablo is no longer a distant threat waiting at the end of the journey. He is present from the moment Diablo V begins, shaping the story, the world, and your path through it.

In Diablo V, you will become the Heir to Westmarch and traverse a Sanctuary actively reshaped by Diablo, accompanied by a growing caravan of survivors. Your mysterious connection to Diablo makes you both a threat and uniquely vulnerable to his powerful influence. With Sanctuary’s greatest champions gone, what must you become to fight for the home taken from you?

StarCraft – Brand-New Open-World Shooter Announced

During BlizzCon26, the devs were on hand to announce that StarCraft returns in 2030 with an original open-world shooter. There’s only one thing we can say: it’s about damn time.

The game development is controlled by Dan Hay, known for his work on Far Cry. The release is expected on PC and Xbox. Additionally, the upcoming game is not a direct sequel to StarCraft II, rather, the events are happening 70 years later in the Koprulu sector.
