BMX’s SolidSafe Duo Is A 5,000mAh Power Bank Built For Apple’s New Foldable iPhone

Apple has set October 16th as the official presale date for the foldable iPhone Duo, and accessory makers are already preparing for life with a phone that bends in half. BMX is among the first out of the gate with the SolidSafe Duo, a $79.99 magnetic power bank designed specifically around Apple’s upcoming foldable phone.

BMX says it developed the SolidSafe Duo specifically for the iPhone Duo’s footprint. That results in a relatively compact 77 x 88 x 11mm battery that is intended to stay within the phone’s edges while attached. The custom-made 5,000mAh semi-solid-state cell is housed in a CNC-machined aluminum enclosure designed for rigidity and heat dissipation. . BMX says the cell uses significantly less liquid electrolyte than conventional lithium-ion batteries, reducing the amount of flammable electrolyte and helping minimize fire risks associated with heat, physical damage, and internal short circuits.

The SolidSafe Duo supports magnetic wireless charging at up to 15W. For faster charging, its permanently attached USB-C lanyard cable can deliver up to 20W. The cable also supports up to 15W input when recharging the power bank, so there is no separate charging cable to remember. The SolidSafe Duo also supports simultaneous wired and wireless output, delivering up to 10W through USB-C and 5W wirelessly.

One interesting feature is the integrated 360-degree rotating ring stand. A conventional kickstand makes sense for a slab phone, but a foldable introduces considerably more ways to use the screen. BMX says the SolidSafe Duo can support the iPhone Duo in portrait and landscape orientations, as well as partially folded configurations for hands-free calls, viewing, reading, and other tasks. The stand can rotate as the phone’s position changes without requiring the battery to be removed.

BMX has also included a full-color TFT LCD that displays the remaining battery capacity and live charging wattage. That gives users more useful information than the typical row of four LEDs, particularly when trying to determine whether a charging setup is actually delivering the expected power.

The SolidSafe Duo is available now directly from BMX for $79.99 in the US and £79.99 in the UK. Amazon availability is planned for October 2026. For an iPhone that is built around changing its shape, a power bank that can change how it supports the phone seems like a reasonably good place to start.
