Bookbound Brigade is coming to add a little literary class to your day. Not really, the upcoming side scroller is all about beating the hell out of historical characters and it’s coming soon.
Releasing later this year for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC, Bookbound Brigade is a Metroidvania style sidescroller that batters the daylights out of historically important book bound characters. These literary greats are assembled as part of a comic book style crossover event, pitting the might of the pen against a whole host of nefarious characters.
Players taking this dream team down into the 2D dungeons of Bookbound Brigade can pic from names like Dracula, King Arthur, Queen Victoria, Nikola Tesla, Cassandra, Dorothy Gale, Sun Wukong the Monkey King and Robin Hood in order to win back the mythical Book of Book, a title that holds every work of fiction ever composed. On the way to winning back this coveted treasure, your team of heroes and not so heroics will traverse a myriad of mazes, didge massive traps, and duke it out a range of boss encounters. You’ll need to keep it together and work as a team to get past the obstacles that await. Each historical member of your party comes with their own traits an abilities to get around incoming obstacles. Just check out the announcement trailer and you’ll see what I mean.
Bookbouund Brigade is the work of Italian outfit Digital Tales and looks like it could be a fun frolic through history. The charming art style and team play is a step far enough away from classic Metroidvania carbon copies that I’m going to check it out when I get to Gamescom this year. For any of you interested in the game, you can check out more on publisher Intragame’s website or keep your eye’s peeled for our thoughts post-Gamescom.
