Chess-inspired minimalist puzzle Beyond the Board announced with a demo on Steam.
The indie puzzle adventure that breaks away from the chess board and rewards curious minds just dropped a demo on Steam for us all to try, Fragile Shapes Studio announced Beyond the Board, a puzzler that definitely doesn’t need you to play chess. Instead, this surreal, chess-inspired adventure challenges players to guide a lone rook through a world of shifting tiles and challenges to overcome an existential maze.
Drawing on the likes of Monument Valley and Limbo, the pieces defy the board. Break beyond the rules of the board game and overcome the rules of a new dimension. Pursue an enemy King through collapsing kingdoms and cursed lands, all to win a game that seems to have gone all awry. A story unravels through atmospheric visual storytelling. Move through the tiles as the world shifts and face boss battles to move the narrative forward.
