CORSAIR Adds Trak Racer To Its Sim Racing Ecosystem

CORSAIR has been steadily building its presence beyond traditional PC hardware, and its latest acquisition fills one of the biggest remaining gaps in its sim racing lineup. The company announced it has acquired the assets of Trak Racer, bringing one of the industry’s best-known cockpit manufacturers into the same family as Fanatec.

CORSAIR previously acquired Fanatec to cover the electronics side of the hobby, including direct drive wheelbases, steering wheels, pedals, and shifters. What was missing was everything those components attach to. Trak Racer’s catalog of aluminum cockpits, racing seats, monitor mounts, motion platforms, and accessories now completes that picture, giving CORSAIR the ability to offer nearly every major component needed to build a full racing simulator.

Founded in 2008 by Matt Sten, Trak Racer has earned a strong reputation among both sim racers and flight simulation fans, offering everything from beginner-friendly rigs to professional-grade cockpits used by enthusiasts and commercial simulators alike. The company has also developed partnerships within Formula 1, something CORSAIR says will continue alongside Fanatec.

The acquisition also marks an expansion into another growing niche: flight simulation. While Fanatec has focused almost exclusively on racing hardware, Trak Racer already produces flight simulation rigs, including the TR550 Flight Simulator. That gives CORSAIR an established platform to serve virtual pilots without starting from scratch, a timely move as flight simulation continues to enjoy renewed popularity thanks to titles like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

For consumers, the biggest change may be availability. Trak Racer has historically sold much of its product lineup directly through its own website. By joining CORSAIR, the company gains access to a much larger global retail and distribution network, potentially making its cockpits and accessories easier to find at major retailers.

Matt Sten will remain involved with the business, joining CORSAIR as Chief Technology Officer for Sim Solutions. According to the company, the goal is to expand Trak Racer’s reach while maintaining the brand’s identity within the sim racing community.

The acquisition continues CORSAIR’s strategy of building a broader gaming hardware ecosystem. Alongside Fanatec, Elgato, SCUF Gaming, and ORIGIN PC, Trak Racer strengthens the company’s growing portfolio and positions it as one of the few manufacturers capable of offering nearly every piece of hardware needed for a complete sim racing or flight simulation setup.
