The developers from Vermila studio keep sharing more intriguing details about the FPS horror shooter Crisol: Theater of Idols. This time the Creative Lead Louise Blain explained some aspect about the enemies and the inspiration behind them. While creating design and atmosphere, the team was looking for ideas in Spanish iconography and architecture, bringing the vibe to the game.
The primary foes, Aiados (Shards) take roots in painted religious statues, which look like creatures stuck in endless suffering in uncanny valley. They cry in agony, chasing the players even after loosing limbs or their head. However, the world of Tormentosa is full of other horrors. There, players can meet statues that transform into dreadful juggernauts. The paintings peel off walls like slimy monsters, driven by desire to kill. And even church candles give birth to flaming monsters. Moreover, not every threat can be eliminated. Among other monsters, some, exist that players can only run or hide from.
Crisol: Theater of Idols brings players to Hispania. Taking the role of Gabriel, once soldier whose blood is a weapon, they have to explore the cursed island Tormentosa. This twisted version of Spain hides many secrets, some darker than others. And these mysteries are guarded by horrifying enemies, thirsty for gore and violence. To survive there, Gabriel has to sacrifice everything and shred his blood to uncover the truth.
Crisol: Theater of Idols comes to PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. Meanwhile, the Demo version is available for everyone willing to spill some blood and face the horrors of Hispania.
