Rhythm game fans have another reason to dust off their virtual guitars. CRKD has announced the CRKD x Gibson Les Paul Olive Drab Pro Edition Guitar Controller, a new limited edition model that not only introduces a fresh military-inspired colorway, but also streamlines the company’s hardware just as the rhythm genre continues its resurgence. Designed for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC, the Olive Drab Pro Edition retains the premium hardware found in CRKD’s previous Gibson Les Paul-inspired controllers while making one notable change. Gone is the physical nine-mode selector dial that appeared on earlier models. Instead, CRKD has simplified the experience into a more plug-and-play design, allowing players to jump into games immediately while still accessing controller profiles, firmware updates, remapping, and advanced customization through the CRKD companion app.
The timing is no accident. Interest in rhythm games has steadily grown thanks to Fortnite Festival, community favorites like Clone Hero and YARG, and the upcoming release of Stage Tour, RedOctane Games’ highly anticipated return to the five-fret music genre. CRKD is clearly positioning its hardware lineup to support both today’s most popular rhythm titles and what’s coming next.
Performance-focused features remain unchanged. The controller includes CRKD’s EZ Glide mechanical fret buttons, a Hall Effect strum bar with integrated haptic feedback, and multiple connectivity options including wired USB-C, low-latency 2.4 GHz wireless via the included USB dongle, and Bluetooth. Compatibility extends across Fortnite Festival, Rock Band 4, Clone Hero, YARG, and Stage Tour when it launches later this year.
Unlike previous color variants, however, the Olive Drab Pro Edition will only receive a single production run. Once existing inventory sells out, CRKD says it will not manufacture additional units, making this one of the company’s more collectible releases to date.
