A Soulframe Preludes playtest, an On-lyne virus, and more Warframe: 1999 news appeared in this week’s DevStreams.
Developer Digital Extremes spent the weekend catching up with fans and revealing a bunch more information about what’s coming from the studio. Aired across social channels and Twitch, the most recent set of developer led live streams included a look ahead to what’s upcoming Soulframe tests, the hyped Warframe: 1999 update, and shiny new weapons to play with.
Soulframe Alpha
In case you missed it, Soulframe is the upcoming free to play action MMO from the same studio that brought Warframe to life. Talking the years of learned experience out in the Origin system, this unreleased adventure leans into fantasy themes and a mystical world. Drawing on more natural themes than it’s sci-fi sibling, players will explore a grand world full of fantastic discoveries and epic danger. Further differentiating itself from DE’s big-name property, the recent reveal updated players on new combat changes to Soulframe’s more visceral combat potential, player progression, and the stunning environment. The team also confirmed that Soulframe Preludes (a Pre-Alpha of sorts) will open up access to the public in 2025.
Be Careful On-lyne
Warframe also got some new content reveals. With the anticipation for Warframe: 1999 ratcheting up, players were warned to watch out for Techrot. A new version of Infected enemies, this problem will make its way into an alternate version of 1999 and taken over the era’s vulnerable technology as a very unfriendly Y2K bug. The result, a corrupted dopy of boy band sensation On-lyne.
The weekend update isn’t the first time this group has been mentioned, even in this form. This time viewers got to find out more about the unusual superstar’s combat styles, capabilities on stage, and the loot they’ll drop.
The Past and Future
Digital extremes also confirmed that fans of the Warframe franchise can read about the origin of the Warframe: 199 Protoframes. These suits that look eerily similar to the Tenno will feature in a Warframe: 1999 prequel webcomic in November. Designed in collaboration with community artist Karu, this comic will explore the founding of The Hex Syndicate, and the outfit’s entanglement in the schemes of lbrecht Entrati.
Finally, we now know that Tenno can expect to see Xaku Prime on 13 November. The amalgamation of three long forgotten Warframes, this three into one addition to your options will arrive alongside Prime weapons, a Syandana, an Operator suit, and a rework of Trinity and Nyx.
If you want to catch anything we might have missed, then head over to the official Warfame and Soulframe channels now.
