Digital Extremes Reveals New Soulframe Trailer At Summer Game Fest

Digital Extremes used the Summer Game Fest showcase to pull back the curtain a little further on its upcoming fantasy action-adventure, Soulframe, debuting a new cinematic trailer that offered another look at the world of Alca and its ongoing struggle between nature and industrial corruption. The trailer also featured a new performance from Jennifer English, best known to many players for her work in modern RPGs, appearing as Alora, the Empress of Eldveil. Her presence adds another major voice talent to Soulframe’s growing cast as Digital Extremes continues to build anticipation for the game’s eventual full release.

Heavily inspired by themes of restoration, nature, and legacy, Soulframe takes a markedly different approach from Digital Extremes’ long-running sci-fi hit Warframe. Players will inherit the Virtues of Courage, Spirit, and Grace from ancient ancestors as they explore a handcrafted fantasy world alongside friends online. The journey centers on restoring the fractured land of Alca and confronting corrupted Omen Beasts that once served as guardians of the realm. Combat blends ancient weapons, magical abilities, stealth mechanics, and character progression while uncovering a personal story tied to birthright and the growing conflict between the natural world and industrial expansion.

According to Creative Director Geoff Crookes, community involvement remains a cornerstone of development. “Working with the team to bring this world full of heartfelt characters to life is a dream come true,” Crookes said. He also emphasized that player feedback continues to guide development as the studio expands the game’s early testing phases.

Players eager to experience Soulframe before launch can sign up for access to the ongoing Soulframe Preludes alpha test through the official website. Digital Extremes notes that progress earned during Preludes will carry forward throughout development, meaning players won’t lose their accomplishments as the game evolves toward release. Access invitations are distributed through weekly random draws, though players can also secure immediate entry by purchasing Founder access. The game is also available to wishlist on Steam as development continues.

While Digital Extremes has not yet announced a release window for Soulframe, the Summer Game Fest trailer serves as the studio’s biggest showcase yet for the fantasy MMO-inspired adventure, offering a clearer look at both its world and the characters who inhabit it. For fans of Warframe looking to see what the studio does outside of science fiction, Soulframe is shaping up to be one of the more intriguing projects on the horizon.
