Don a Monk's Robe and Make Suds in Ale Abbey

For those who simply can’t get enough beer in their virtual or real lives, we have good news. Shiro Unlimited and Hammer & Ravens have announced that Ale Abbey will be coming to PC via Steam in late 2024. In this upcoming brewing management sim, players don a monk’s robe and help build a beer empire at their own medieval abbey. Of course, this will be a completely honest and lucrative way to turn a profit for the brothers.

Developers sent out a new trailer during this week’s PC Gaming Show, offering a peek behind the curtain at what players can expect when the game launches.

Players will have a lot on their hands besides praying that all goes well. They’ll need to assign Brewmasters and other monks to brew a number of different bubbly concoctions. These include lagers, pilsners, stouts, porters, and more. As the abbey becomes better known, new recipes and ingredients will unlock to offer monks other suds to make to entice customers to buy.

Features include

  • Recruit and assign brewmasters and monks
  • Create a variety of beers including lagers, pilsners, stouts, porters, and more.
  • Unlock new ingredients and recipes as the abbey expands operations.
  • Expand capabilities by establishing key resources.
  • Craft pitcher-perfect formulas.
  • Expand research and development.
  • Upgrade and build more desks to speed up the discovery process.
  • Sell ale at local markets and return benevolence to the community.
  • Gain fame by helping the local community. Alternatively, gain infamy by providing suds to bandits.

“One of the brightest spots in middle age society, despite the plentiful hardships, was the beer-centric culture offered by monks,” said Emiliano Pastorelli, Game Director at Hammer & Ravens. “Historically, there were a lot of monasteries making and selling ale as a way to fund their establishments. Modern breweries have profited from those original advancements and techniques, and modern gamers can experience the glory of the past in the most entertaining fashion yet thanks to Ale Abbey!”
