Living In My GameSpace is always looking for exciting new tech, and today we hit the jackpot. The tech world is descending on Silicon Valley this week as Dreame Technology kicks off DREAME NEXT, a four-day showcase in San Francisco running from April 27 to 30. While many know the brand for the robot vacuums currently cleaning floors in over 42 million households, this event signals a massive pivot toward a much broader ecosystem of high-end hardware.
Dreame kicked off day one of the event with an eye-catching reveal of the Nebula NEXT 01 JET Edition, a rocket-powered vehicle that seems to lean more toward science fiction than a typical commute. It comes equipped with a 2160-line LiDAR system and advanced autonomous driving capabilities. Sebastian Thrun, a pioneer in the autonomous vehicle space, is expected to be in attendance, lending some serious industry weight to what might otherwise sound like a wild concept.
Beyond the automotive ambitions, the event is segmented into various “Next” themes covering everything from modular AI smartphones to high-end personal care. The modular phone concept is particularly interesting for those tired of the disposable nature of modern tech, though details remain thin until the official keynote. Dreame is also expanding its presence in the home with over 20 new products, including air conditioners and kitchen appliances, all powered by the same high-speed motor technology that the company has spent years refining.
Financially, the company appears to be playing a strong hand. North American revenue jumped 189 percent last year, and they are funneling over seven percent of their total revenue back into research and development. With research personnel making up more than 70 percent of their staff, the company is betting that their library of 10,000 patents can successfully bridge the gap between household cleaning and high-speed mobility.
Whether consumers are ready for a rocket-powered jet vehicle from their vacuum manufacturer remains to be seen, but the sheer scale of the DREAME NEXT event makes it clear that the company is no longer content staying in one lane.
