Developer Funcom is back with a great announcement, survival MMO Dune: Awakening is in for the Chapter 2 free update and The Lost Harvest DLC (priced at $12.99).
The developers shared that their update plan for Dune: Awakening is structured into free major content updates in the form of Books and Chapters, and paid content in the form of DLCs and Expansions. Generally, a free update will be released alongside with the paid DLC.
Dune: Awakening – Chapter 2 will be the first major content update. The team promises the next chapter of the main story campaign, new locations, new and familiar faces, and more. Alongside the continuation of the story, Chapter 2 brings several new contracts, new dynamic encounters, new archetype armors, character re-customization, and other additions.
Meanwhile, The Lost Hardest paid DLC comes with a complete standalone storyline. It includes several unique cosmetics, such as a brand-new vehicle, the Treadwheel, complete with its own unique animations and tier upgrades. The vehicle and other cosmetics provide no material benefit over its base game counterpart.
“A carryall transporting a Miner’s Guild spice harvester has been shot out of the sky, and its cargo could change everything. Your job is to find it.”
Last but not least, the team also announced the beginning of the Free Trial. Between now and August 25th, anyone can taste the spice of Arrakis for free for 10 hours. Free Trial characters are unable to play with those who own the game, but they will keep their character’s progress and backpack contents if they purchase the game.
