Sun, Sand, and Spice aren’t all you’ll see in when Dune: Awakening arrives to survive.
Funcom’s upcoming survival MMO, Dune: Awakening just dropped a new teaser trailer, ahead of our expeditions to Arrakis. The famed home of Spice takes centre stage in a new trailer that treks across the sand and introduces potential players to a unique biome that’s not all Sand Worms and death.
Across three minutes, the newest reveal scours the arid Hagga Basin, passes through the Vermillius Gap, and beyond. Whether you’re traversing the sand as a Fremmen on foot, riding a tracked vehicle, or soaring above the skyline, you’ll be able to explore a variety of environments. Delve into the rockfaces or the core of Arrakis. Visit concrete fortresses, or alternatively just sit on the sand and watch the sun set on the dunes.
While the new trailer seems to be a graphical showcase as anything else, it’s great to see that the newest Dune spin off isn’t just a boring beige backdrop. Players ending up on Arrakis will find themselves on a familiar, but different, Dune. Staring as a nameless survivor, you’ll craft collect and interact in a large-scale, persistent and highly immersive world. Rise to become an agent of a great house as they battel for dominance in a world where the Fremen vanished, and Paul Atreides was never born. With nothing set in stone, you’ll sue all your wits to survive server wide political shifts, rumour, and war for Spice. Dune: Awakening is due to land on Arrakis via PC, sometime in 2025.
