Pinball machines have been enjoying a resurgence over the past several years, fueled by licensed themes ranging from classic movies to blockbuster video games. Now one of the hottest names in LitRPG is joining the lineup, as Multimorphic has announced a Dungeon Crawler Carl machine for its modular P³ pinball platform.
Based on Matt Dinniman’s bestselling book series, the DCC machine puts players in the role of Carl, with Princess Donut at his side, as they battle through the dungeon, take down monsters, cast spells, recruit allies, build viewer counts, and, naturally, seek revenge against everything trying to kill them. Rather than simply borrowing the license, Multimorphic has packed the game with references spanning the first seven books. Fans can expect major story beats, memorable characters, and even smaller plotlines to be woven directly into the game’s rules and objectives.
The machine also brings together several familiar names from the Dungeon Crawler Carl universe. Audiobook narrator Jeff Hays voices every in-game character, while series cover artist Luciano Fleitas created the cabinet and translite artwork. The playfield art comes from Brad Albright, with additional artwork supplied by Renegade Game Studios. Award-winning artist Davey Price of Stumblor Pinball also contributes the first hand-sculpted 3D artwork ever featured on a P³ game.
Mechanically, the machine appears to be one of Multimorphic’s most ambitious releases yet. Highlights include:
- A 360-degree double-level rotating disk with interactive targets and moving shot paths
- A player-controlled cannon
- Six-ball Mana stack with multiple ball releases
- Bashable Mongo cage with magnetic ball lock
- Princess Donut sculpt featuring illuminated LED eyes
- Jump ramp with magnetic catch-and-fling action
- Sling-lock ball stops on both inlanes
For collectors, the price reflects the premium nature of the hobby. A complete P³ pinball machine equipped with Dungeon Crawler Carl costs $12,350, while existing P³ owners can purchase the standalone game kit for $5,250. Reservations require a $2,500 deposit for a full machine or $1,500 for the game kit, with production scheduled to begin in late 2026.
Dungeon Crawler Carl joins a growing catalog of licensed games on the P³ platform, including Portal, The Princess Bride, and Weird Al’s Museum of Natural Hilarity. For fans who have spent years following Carl and Princess Donut’s increasingly absurd adventures, this may be the closest they’ll get to surviving the dungeon without risking life and limb.
