Elder Scrolls Online Update 50 Arrives on PTS Monday, Full Release Targeted for June

More free content is on the way for The Elder Scrolls Online, as ZeniMax Online Studios begins rolling out details for Update 50, a major patch currently targeting a June 8th release. Players won’t have to wait long to see what’s coming. The update is set to hit the Public Test Server (PTS) starting Monday, April 13, giving the community an early chance to explore new features, provide feedback, and get a feel for how this next phase of ESO is shaping up.

While Update 50 doesn’t carry the headline-grabbing weight of a full expansion, it continues the game’s recent trend of delivering meaningful system updates and evergreen content to all players at no additional cost. The headline addition for Update 50 is a thorough rework of the Werewolf skill line, continuing ZeniMax’s ongoing Class Identity Refresh. The update brings a refreshed character model alongside a new female werewolf form, updated combat abilities including the replacement of Piercing Howl with a bite attack, a reduced ultimate cost, and tweaks designed to make both magicka and stamina builds viable in wolf form. It is a long-overdue pass on a skill line that, frankly, has been feeling a little rough around the edges.

Beyond the Werewolf rework, one of the biggest additions is a new set of world activities and encounters designed to make exploration feel more dynamic. ZeniMax has been steadily improving how the world of Tamriel feels moment to moment, and Update 50 leans further into that philosophy with encounters that are less predictable and more rewarding for players who enjoy wandering off the beaten path.

Group content is also getting attention, with new challenges aimed at both casual and experienced players. These additions are designed to slot into the existing PvE ecosystem without requiring the commitment of a full trial group, offering more flexible ways to engage with cooperative play.

On the systems side, Update 50 brings a range of quality-of-life improvements. Inventory management, UI refinements, and general gameplay flow are all being tweaked based on ongoing community feedback. These aren’t flashy changes, but they tend to have the biggest long-term impact, especially for a game that’s been running as long as ESO. There’s also continued work on performance and stability, an area ZeniMax has been steadily addressing over the past year. Update 50 is expected to build on those efforts, with backend improvements aimed at smoothing out large-scale encounters and busy hub areas.

For players interested in testing things early, the PTS launch on April 13 is the first opportunity to jump in. As usual, everything available there is subject to change, but it offers a clear snapshot of what Update 50 is trying to accomplish ahead of its full release.

If all goes according to plan, Update 50 will land in June 2026 as a free update for all The Elder Scrolls Online players, continuing the game’s steady cadence of post-launch support without putting everything behind a paywall. For a decade-old MMO, that kind of consistency is starting to feel like the real headline.
