Wildgate Is a slick looking Sea of Thieves in space with extraction mechanics, but will it turn out like Hyenas?
Yesterday, Moonshot Games, a Dreamhaven development studio dropped a huge announcement for a certain vintage of gamer. The studio brought to life by some legendary Ex Blizzard developers revealed Wildgate, a bright new team-based extraction shooter set in space. The sci-fi setting and pirate antics of this cupping title are set to land across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation this year.
Players following the hype will experience a PVP multiplayer shooter that blends tactical ship-to-ship combat with fast-paced first-person action. The brightly colored sci-fi setting throws players into the harsh vacuum of space as they head into action to find a priceless Artifact. Fight your way across space and take out other players in their spaceships before anybody even sets foot on a space wreck. Fly shoot and generally explode your way towards the air lock, then use one of a range of unique prospectors to run and gun the rest of the way.
Loot the artifact and get out in one piece, wield a range of abilities, and utilize the best tactics in the verse to come out on top of this PvP experience.
Seemingly mixing a Sea of Thieves run and plunder concept with a space setting and some serious pedigree seems to make this seem like a big deal. However, views on the recent reveal, co hosted by Geoff Knightley, seem underwhelming. Buzz online has been a little more muted than we would have expected, and there’s something a little familiar feeling. Between the hyperactive looter shooter Hyenas and the extraction shooter, Marauders, there’s definitely a little bit of the same. Hopefully, Wildgate will garner some more attention and show us how it stands out, however. If you want to see what awaits in the uncharted regions of The Reach, head over to the official website now.
