Sit down, listen to the dulcet tones of Matthew McConaughey as he introduces the Mara-Yama In a new Exodus trailer.
In space, Travelers have many things to fear, but the Mara-Yama are unique among them. Upcoming AAA Sci-Fi RPG Exodus just revealed this powerful and unknowable faction of Celestials with a trailer and narration from C.C. Orlev, an enigmatic guide voiced by Matthew McConaughey. Over the course of a minute and a half, potential players get a glimpse of a race that haunt the darkest corners of the local cluster and are everything you should far.
Designed by a bunch of frightfully imaginative types at Achetype Entertainment, these space faring entities are just one threat players must skirt around in Exodus. Playing as a Traveller, players must navigate a corner of space where Humans cling on to survival. Scattered among factions of powerful beings, far evolved from lowly Humans, one hope remains for the species. You. Navigate Centauri and steal powerful technologies from the Celestials to secure the future, if you can. All you’ll need to do is outsmart the seemingly ancient ones and the horrors of the Mara-Yama. Fail to do so and you can expect torture, fear, then death.
In Exodus, humanity flees from a dying Earth and puts down roots in a new corner of the galaxy. Landing long after the first ships arrive, Humans find a potential home already claimed by earlier explorers, and the earliest arrivals having long evolved beyond Earth into strange and mysterious dynasties. As you take on the role of a Traveler and set out to distant stars, the consequences of your actions will play out in real time as you face the time dilation of space travel. Think Interstellar crossed with Mass Effect, and a wildly inventive set of societies to explore.
This is just the latest look at the Celestials of Exodus. A recent book release lays the foundations of tis upcoming adventure. There’s still plenty of time before Exodus takes off on PC and console. You can find out more about the space between stars and what await on the official Exodus website now.
