Games With Romances Pt. 3 – St. Valentine’s Special

Games with Romances pt. 3 - St. Valentine’s Special

It’s that time of the year again! February means love is in the air, and what is the best way to celebrate it but jump into a game with romances or add an upcoming title to your wishlist? Grab your sword, hat and the love interest of choice – and let’s jump into a new adventure.

Note: this piece is focused on RPGs or games with RPG elements so you won’t find visual novels or date sims in this list – except for one very unusual pick sitting at #1 for the sheer hilarity. Additionally, the games are put in a non-ranked order, feature characters to choose from and deep gameplay outside of the romance system.

While at it, consider checking the previous two parts to these series: 20+ PC Games That Let You Have a Bit of Romance and PC Games With Romances Part 2 – The More, The Merrier.

Let’s start romancing!

Date Everything!

Coming from developer Sassy Chap Games and publisher Team17, Date Everything! is a sandbox dating simulator set in the comfort of your own home, featuring 100 fully voice acted datable characters! Let the romance flow between your bed, smoke alarm and… Overwhelming Sense of Existential Dread? Are you ready to Date Everything?

Fully voiced dialogues, puns everywhere, and at least 3 endings per dateable character with relationship ranging from friendship, hatred and love… Why aren’t you playing yet?

Eternal Strands

Developer Yellow Brick Games released action-adventure Eternal Strands in January, 2025, to a very positive welcome from the community. Step into a richly reactive world, bend the surroundings to your will, fight giant monsters, and uncover ancient secrets – all the while kicking off a relationship on the side.

A realm of mystery, opportunity, danger, and wonder: the Enclave awaits.

Hades II

Bisexual panic: the game returns! Hades II is the sequel to the award-winning rogue-like dungeon crawler. Supergiant Games gave it their all to bring forth an all-new, action-packed, endlessly replayable experience rooted in the Underworld of Greek myth and its deep connections to the dawn of witchcraft.

Step into the shoes of Melinoe, explore a mythic world, vanquish the forces of the Titan of Time, fight your way out of any setback and meet a cast of larger-than-life characters, including some old friends.

Grow closer to them through a variety of new interactions, and experience countless unique story events based on how your journey unfolds.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Coming from developer Bioware, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the fourth and (currently) final game in the Dragon Age saga. Return to Thedas where ancient tyrants wielding the might of gods have escaped their prison, and that is only the beginning.

Demons, darkspawn, blighted dragons, and perilous choices lie ahead. Unite the Veilguard and defy the gods.

While the players’ consensus has The Veilguard ranked noticeably lower than the previous games in the series – Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2 & Dragon Age: Inquisition – I’d say it’s still worth playing through it at least once, especially if you get the game during a sale.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

The game that grabbed all the awards, Sandfall Interactive’s Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 takes you to a world of wonders inspired by Belle Époque France. Prepare for emotional swings, depression,  and battles with unique enemies in this turn-based RPG with real-time mechanics.

Once a year, the Paintress wakes and paints a cursed number upon her monolith. And everyone of that age turns to smoke and fades away. Year by year, that number ticks down and more people are erased. Tomorrow she’ll wake and paint “33.”  You join Expedition 33 on their final mission: Destroy the Paintress, so she can never paint death again.

While, yes, Expedition 33 has romance options, the game also features much more than that. Prepare to be emotionally destroyed on a regular basis.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

From humble beginnings as a forge assistant and tavern regular, Henry’s life was forever changed by tragedy and the call of adventure. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II invites you to follow his journey of loss, vengeance, and glory. Experience a world where every choice shapes your fate. Fortune favours the brave.

Overall, romances play but a small part in Henry’s story – both the long-term relationships, and the momentary flings. However, there is also a secret cutscene if you keep being faithful to Theresa.

Assassin’s Creed: Shadows

In Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, you experience an action-adventure story set in feudal Japan. The game features two protagonists, the quick-witted and light-footed shinobi Naoe and powerful samurai Yasuke. Switch between these two heroes to adapt your strategy through two radically different approaches – stealth and strength, shadows and steel.

As you play, both Naoe and Yasuke can experience their own romances. While most do not have a large impact on gameplay or story, there’s one particular one that will affect the plot for Yasuke.

UPCOMING GAMES WITH ROMANCES

You have one primary goal: to protect the Imperium, whether that be from the taint of xenos, the betrayal of heretics, or the scourge of mutants, by any means necessary. Be the conduit of the Emperor’s will in a place where all hope was lost decades ago.

GreedFall: Dying World

Coming from developer Spiders and publisher Nacon, the events of GreedFall: The Dying World take place three years before those of the original GreedFall. Previously, you had an opportunity to explore a mysterious island of Teer Fradee, now you play as a native whisked away to the foreboding continent.

As the world is ravaged by war and scarred by the Malichor, you must use diplomacy, cunning and combat as well as a help of new allies to regain your freedom and put an end to one man’s ambitions of conquest. You are the master of your own destiny.

Starfinder: Afterlight

The galaxy is on the brink of annihilation, and your captain has vanished without a trace. Assemble a crew of charming misfits and become legendary in this single-player, party-based CRPG set in the Starfinder universe.

Players will be able to build their hero from seven ancestries (Android, Human, Kasatha, Lashunta, Shirren, Vesk, Ysoki) and six classes (Envoy, Mystic, Operative, Solarian, Soldier, Witchwarper). The game also featured turn-based tactical combat, using Paizo’s three-action system.

The developers boast a branching narrative where your choices matter. Nothing is forbidden, but everything has consequences. Factions remember your deeds, companions judge your decisions. Your legend is yours to write.

EXODUS

Coming from Wizards of the Coast and Archetype Entertainment, EXODUS is a sci-fi action-adventure RPG arriving in early 2027.

But the fight for survival has consequences… Interstellar travel at the edge of lightspeed can turn days for you into decades for your loved ones back home. How far are you willing to venture? How much are you willing to sacrifice?

Mass Effect Next

The game that has been on every part of this list so far due to its lengthy development, Mass Effect Next is a title currently in the oven at Bioware. Initially teased over 5 years ago, the game has not received very many updates yet, but the old fans – yours truly included – keep hoping and coping that it will see the light of the day soon, and bring some good ol’ Bioware magic.

Our latest hints at things to come arrived during the annual Mass Effect N7 Day 2025 – you can check our overview over here or watch the teaser trailer once more.

Life is Strange: Reunion

Developed by Deck Nine Games, LiS: Reunion will launch on PlayStation 5 on March 26, 2026.

Chloe Price was Max Caulfield’s partner in time… Losing her is Max’s greatest regret. Now Chloe has come to Caledon University. Haunted by nightmares and impossible memories, Chloe needs Max’s help.

But Max is already in crisis: in three days, a deadly inferno will destroy the campus. Max’s Rewind power has bought her time – but she can’t prevent the blaze alone. The fire will force Max and Chloe to make devastating decisions. Can they find a future together… Before everything burns?

MAYBE, MAYBE NOT

Note that while most of the future games on the list have been confirmed to have romances, there are a couple that are up in the air that have been marked just so. While there are no official confirmations yet, these few titles make my romance-o-meter tingle regardless.

Shadow of the Road (Maybe)

In Shadow of the Road, you play as two ronin Akira and Satoru, trying to reclaim their lost honor in the world torn apart by war. The forces of the Shogun represent the traditional side of this alternative 1868 Japan, while the Emperor and his allies from the British East Nippon Company insist on technological progress and advancement.

Amid this conflict of ideologies, the two protagonists were given a mission to protect a very special young boy who might change the outcome of the war and the fate of the empire forever.

Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic (Possibly)

The game aims to be the most immersive and ambitious Witcher game to date. The developers describe it as a single-player open-world RPG, focusing on Ciri’s journey as a professional monster slayer through a brutal dark fantasy world.
