GameSir’s Tarantula 8K Controller Targets PC Esports Players With 8000Hz Polling And TMR Sticks

The race to build the ultimate competitive controller isn’t slowing down, and GameSir’s latest entry makes it clear that this one isn’t trying to be an all-purpose gamepad. The new Tarantula 8K PC is built exclusively for PC gamers, prioritizing raw performance, customization, and low latency over features like wireless connectivity or console compatibility.

Available now for $69.99, the wired controller’s headline feature is its 8000Hz polling rate, paired with a claimed 0.25ms response time. While standard controllers typically poll at 125Hz or 1000Hz, GameSir is aiming squarely at competitive players who want every input registered as quickly as possible. Whether that translates into a noticeable advantage will likely depend on the game and the player, but it’s clear who this controller is designed for.

Another standout feature is GameSir’s new Gen-2 Mag-Res TMR thumbsticks. Using magnetic sensing technology, the sticks are designed to eliminate physical contact that can lead to wear and stick drift, while providing smoother, more precise movement than traditional analog sticks.

The GameSir Tarantula 8K also gives players plenty of ways to tailor the controller to their playstyle. Hall Effect analog triggers can be switched between full travel for racing games and shorter trigger stops for shooters, while micro switch face buttons promise faster, more tactile inputs. GameSir has also packed in nine fully remappable macro buttons, including rear paddles, additional shoulder buttons, and front-mounted inputs capable of storing up to 32-step macros.

Despite all of those features, the controller weighs just 180 grams. GameSir achieved the lightweight design by removing both vibration motors and an internal battery, a tradeoff many competitive players may gladly accept in exchange for reduced fatigue during long sessions.

Other features include a six-axis gyroscope for supported games, RGB lighting, onboard profile switching, adjustable dead zones, turbo functionality, and support for the GameSir Connect software suite, which allows players to customize button mappings, macros, trigger behavior, and lighting effects.
