Xbox’s original translucent green hardware remains one of the more recognizable pieces of early-2000s console design, and Gamesir are paying tribute to the design with the GameSir X5 Lite for Xbox 25th Anniversary Edition controller. is available to preorder now for $44.99 and is expected to ship in October. It is part of Microsoft’s broader Designed for Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection, which includes special-edition gear from Razer, 8BitDo, Backbone, PowerA, and other accessory makers.
The controller connects directly through USB-C rather than Bluetooth, avoiding the pairing process, another battery to charge, and the extra latency that can be especially noticeable in fast-action games. GameSir rates the controller’s wired connection at a 250Hz polling rate, which should provide responsive input for cloud gaming, emulation, shooters, and action games.
Unlike the standard Android-focused X5 Lite, this Xbox-branded version adds Apple MFi certification alongside Android support. That means it works with iPhone, iPad, Mac, and compatible Android devices, making it a more flexible option for players using Xbox Cloud Gaming, remote play, mobile-native games, and PC game streaming.
Along with MFi support, the anniversary colorway is the highlight of this limited-edition controller. It uses a translucent green shell meant to evoke the original Xbox and its famous controller. Fortunately, the X5 Lite does not recreate the controllers oversized dimensions. The telescopic controller weighs 145 grams and stretches from 105mm to 213mm, allowing it to fit most modern smartphones and even an iPad mini.
It is not merely a cosmetic revision, either. The X5 Lite for Xbox includes Hall Effect sticks designed to avoid stick drift, Hall Effect analog triggers, tactile bumper switches, and swappable ABXY buttons. Players can also use the GameSir app to remap controls, adjust stick dead zones, and update firmware.
