Sumo Interactive and Disbelief have announced that Gears of War: Reloaded, a “faithfully remastered and natively optimized” version of the original game, will launch this summer. Eager fans across multiple platforms will be able to take on the classic title beginning August 26, 2025.
The game can be purchased for $39.99 on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox PC, PlayStation 5, and Steam. In addition, it will be available day one via Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass. Best of all, GoW: R features cross-play and cross-progression on all platforms!
Xbox players who already own the original digital version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will receive a free upgrade to Reloaded.

According to the team, the game’s remastered version is “built for shared play” in split-screen or online. Players can tackle the campaign in 2-player co-op or go head-to-head with up to eight players in Versus. These activities do not require any further login. However, those who opt to use their Microsoft account to log into the game will unlock all the cross-platform functionality. This includes cross-progression, so campaign and multiplayer progress will be saved regardless of what device is being used. It also allows players to send invites to friends across all platforms.
