Developer HoYoverse continues to prepare Travelers for the imminent journey to the Nation of Justice, Fontaine. In the previous editions of The Steambird Special, the team introduced players to the region and shared some details on the underwater exploration. The latest third issue tackles the special energy possessed by the characters of this region. Namely, Pneuma, Ousia and their mutual annihilation.
Pneuma and Ousia are the properties contained in the life-forms, earth, air and waters of Fontaine. The collision between energies of different properties causes annihilation and the production of greater energies. This is the principle that powers many of the region’s clockwork meka. However, the power supply of them is unstable, resulting in Pneuma or Ousia-aligned energy states.
Fontaine characters may trigger additional Pneuma or Ousia attacks while engaging in combat. Attacks with the opposite alignment can be used to overload and disable the meka’s power supplies or to solve puzzles. Travelers will also encounter Ousia and Pnauma energy blocks. Interacting with them will make the next attack release the energy stored within.
