For Genshin Impact, the Four Shades of the Primordial One had been a topic that was resurfacing since the very beginning of the game. From the “Unknown God” Asmoday that separated the twins, to Istaroth taking part in the events of Inazuma, to Gold consuming Naberius, and, finally, Ronova having a role in the Natlan Archon quest. There had always been crumbs and the implied presence, but never before had we have a chance to see them. Enter Teyvat Chapter Interlude Teaser – The Gods’ Limits.

However, while they take the center stage of the teaser, the Fatui are not falling behind. The very end of the video shows Pierro, the director of the organization, prepare forces and give them a new objective: retrieve Columbina the Damselette from Nod Krai by any means necessary. All the while, the Fatui are also seeking out Gnoses and preparing their God-slaying plans.
Who are the Four Shades?
- Shade of Space – the Unknown God, Asmoday. The one who separated the twins at the beginning of the journey.
- Shade of Life – Naberius, consumed by “Gold” Rhinedottir. The creator of Egeria, the first Hydro Archon.
- Shade of Time – Istaroth, the Thousand Winds of Time. Had been revered around Mondstadt and Enkanomiya, helped Raiden Makoto with the Sacred Sakura. Additionally, she is a big presence in the latest quest dedicated to the Traveler and their sibling.
- Shade of Death – Ronova, the master of the Khaenri’ah’s Curse of Immortality.
