The developers of open-world fantasy RPG Genshin Impact are back with a brief recap for Wriothesley and Furina who are about to receive their reruns. If you would like to receive a freshener on these characters’ story, kit, suggested gear and comps, look no further than the official HoYo site.
Wriothesley and Furina, as well as Charlotte, Chongyun and Mika, are up for grabs once Version 5.4 Phase 2 rolls in tomorrow.
Wriothesley – 5-star Cryo Catalyst
The game’s first and only 5-star Cryo Catalyst finally breaks out from Meropide’s basement. If you have missed his debut (probably going for Neuvillette or Furina), this is your chance to finally get him. Not only is he a powerful damage dealer on his own, the banner is also packed with great 4-stars, especially Charlotte (4-star Cryo Catalyst) that can serve in his team.
Wriothesley is an on-field DPS character that revolves around using Normal and Charged attacks. As is the case with any Catalyst, both types of attack deal Cryo damage.
After using his Elemental Skill, he will enter the special state that increases his resistance to interruption. If his HP is relatively high at the time, his Normal attacks that hit opponents will cause him to lose HP to increase damage. When his HP is relatively low, his Charged attacks will be enhanced to allow him to regain HP after hitting opponents with them.
After using his Elemental Burst, he will deal multiple instances of AoE Cryo damage to opponents in front of him. Note that, as many other Fontaine characters, Wriothesley employs HP fluctuation into his kit. If you are not sure if you can safely manage it, it might be best to bring along a healer or a shielder.

Furina – 5-star Hydro Sword
The Hydro Archon’s humanity and Fontaine’s most brilliant star, lady Furina also returns in Version 5.4 Phase 2 to support the Cryo cast. If you are just building your Cryo reaction team by pulling for Wriothesley, she’s one of his better potential teammates in the Freeze comps.
Furina is a character that uses the entire party’s HP to unleash attacks. She can use her Charged Attack to change her Arkhe and, at intervals, her Normal Attacks deal the corresponding Pneuma or Ousia-aligned Hydro damage. Her Elemental Skill summons either the Salon Members or the Singer of Many Waters, based on her current Arkhe. The former fight alongside the active character and, upon attacking, consume character HP to increase the damage dealt. The latter continuously heals nearby characters.
Her Elemental Burst causes the whole party to enter the Universal Revelry state. In this state, Furina gains Fanfare when character HP increases or decreases, increasing the Damage dealt and Healing Bonus of all nearby party members.
If you decide to use Furina, you might want to make sure to bring a powerful party-wide healer with you such as Jean or Charlotte, who is also available on her and Wriothesley’s banners.
