Go Retro For The Future With Farming Simulator 16-Bit Edition

Farming Simulator 16 -Bit Edition brings the tractor action to Sega Genesis in 2025, Finally!

Giants Software, the team behind the massive Farming Simulator franchise has partnered with Strictly Limited games to bring the tractor centric sim to the Mega Drive and Genesis formats. Players with a compatible console or even one of the originals can go 16-bit during the summer harvest, when the standard and special editions of this unusual turn come to online stores form May 2025.

For anybody expressing the same stunned bemusement that I did on seeing this news, yes, it is real and there is precedence. Inspired by the Farming Simulator 25 Collector’s Edition, the full release of this format is based on the fan reaction to the earlier retro cartridge-style version. Moving on from a quirky add on to a boxed set, this is now coming in a standalone set. Farming Simulator 16-Bit Edition, as you’d expect, is a genre reimagined with the authentic feel of classic 16-bit gameplay. See the sights sounds and feel of the modern farm management in a very different 2D screen. I’m not sure how competitive hay stacking will play out, but the team has already expanded onto VR , so why not this?
